The same way you'd train any other kind of dog. I suggest going to your local PetSmart and signing up for obedience classes.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding. But seriously, beagles can be VERY stubborn...and absent-minded, to boot. Most hounds have a tendency to just follow their nose (I think Toucan Sam would be a good name for a beagle, lol).

Basic commands can be taught the same way you would teach any other dog. Depending on the dog, it might take a little longer for it to catch on than it would for say, a shepherd...like I said, beagles can be stubborn.

If you can, try and figure out what the dog is mixed with besides beagle and look up behavioral traits on any and all breeds he/she could have. Mixes are so unique in looks and temperment....we have a 7 month old lab/boxer mix....he has the springy nature of a boxer, but it seems it's been calmed a bit by the lab in him.

beagles are cute but a pain to train trade it in for a lab or golden retriever. youll be happier if you do.

same way you train any other dog...don't leave them unattended and be consistant. it's hard work every day...all day long.
