Tapeworms can only be taken care of with medication. Talk to the vet about a payment plan, or see if your local shelter offers a program.

Tapeworms are caused by fleas, so that needs to be addressed, too.

Home remedy #1: Give the dog to someone who does have cash for a vet. There are no home remedies other than this for tapeworm. If the dog does not receive medical attention soon the tapeworms can cause blockages in the dog's intestinal tract and it will die a very long and painful death.

Then YOU can be charged with animal neglect as you did not provide the proper care for an animal that YOU are responsible for.

Oh, I almost forgot:

Home remedy #2: Don't get another dog unless you can provide care for it.

Sorry to be so harsh but it's reality and the dog needs care and you admit that you cannot provide it, so give the dog a chance to survive and don't be treating it with "home remedies" that people suggest over the internet.

Um....you may not have any money NOW, but what about in the next couple of weeks? Tapeworms are often referred to as one of the best adapted parasites because they do the least amount of damage to their hosts. Indeed, most people don't know their animal even has one until they start seeing those lovely egg sacks that look like grains of rice.

So it's not imperative to get the tapeworm taken care of right away, but would be a good idea to get the dog treated within the next few weeks. If you won't have any money for the vet in the next few weeks.....well, why do you have pets?

I don't know of any home remedies but if you go to a pet store they do have deworming medicine that may help. I am not sure if they will be strong enough but I would try them. If this doesn't work maybe you could make arrangements with your vet to take the dog in and make small payments over a period of time. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the home remedies don't really work on tapeworms. The good thing is treating them through your vet is REALLY cheap! What did your vet quote you as the price???

If you already have a vet who is familiar with your dog, they may just prescribe the pill over the phone for you. Its only one dose and it costs around 10$ here in the U.S so maybe it would be cheaper up there!
They are caused by your dog eating an infected flea so be sure to keep bathing it and treat your home/apt/yard for fleas as soon as you can. We bathe our dog with head and shoulders shampoo. It kills the fleas/eggs and keeps their skin from being itchy!

this may be a old wives tale but i rememeber someone sayin this worked in humans who had tape worms so if it works in humans it may work in dogs, boil some milk and then place it under the dogs nose the aroma is suppose to make the tape worms come out through the nose, but like i said its somethin i remember hearing a long time ago.
