I think Photon is cute and original. Also Dash was suggested- another cute name.
For an agility dog FAST NAMES would be great. Or you could go the "sarcastic" route and name it something like Slow BOB.... Have fun with it!!

I liked Dog, pronounced Dee-Oh-Gee. I wanted to name my dog after a dog in a Jim Henson movie, Sprocket (Fraggle Rock) Merlin or Ambrosious (Labryinth) Barkley (Sesame Street). Of course I have a Sheepdog so they work. Sheepie named after a sheepie.
If you dont' know henson...If the puppy is a little "crazy" or playful what about wembly(fraggle rock). Wembly could never make up his mind and agreed with everyone even if they contradicted each other. Boober was a worry wart who like to lay low. Red was a very athletic fraggle, Gobo was adventerous, and mokie was quiet and happy.
But I love those names, anyway good luck and have fun! And congrats on the puppy.

Well, I have found that I cannot name a dog before I have it. The names I give dogs seem to fit their personality.
Example, I have a Dalmatian, he is 12 to 13 years old. I got him as a pup and named him Sherman. Why? Because he destroyed everything he came in contact with like General Sherman during the Civil War.

I had a dog I found and I used a baby book to find a name to suit her. I named her Trixie which means "she who loves". Then when I lost her at 16 1/2 due to old age, I got another female - a shepherd and named her "Dixie". I think sorta to honor my first girl. She passed in 2005 and I got 2 male while Shepherd pups. I already knew 1 would be named "Jinx" in honor of my others but it turned out to be a great name for him. He's a little ornery and cute as a bug. His brother's name came to me in a dream. My husband is Native American and I dreamed of a thunder storm with lightening and dark clouds that later turned nice and white and fluffy - so his name is "Cloud." He is a dream dog. Have fun with names. "Photon" is cool and as long as it means something to you - that's all you and "Photon" need.

Patton or Oliver. I love dogs that have real names, instead of spot or fluffy, etc. My parakeet was named Webster because I wanted him to talk, and he did. Just match the animal with the name and see how it responds. You'll find the rightn ame.

When naming your animals, I always tell people to name it for something they do, their personality, etc. Not just the popular name at the time.
I deal with dog behavior and psychology. -
You have a clever name I guarantee you'll never forget it as long as you live.
Your pet names have meaning!! Awesome job

I've always thought that "Dash" would be a good name for a dog that does agility trials.

Try yelling it a couple of times across a dog park. If it doesn't make you feel silly you're on the right track. My husband and I name our pets after semi-obscure scientists, physicists, and mathematicians. It's always entertaining to introduce them to people who know who schroedenger, meitner, and pythagreous are.
