I have an australian cattle dog, sweet, smart, loyal, and adoreable and I see no resemblance in the dogs. Australian shepherds aren't even distantly related to any australian breed so why the name? I look at an Australian shpherd with all that hair, the flopped ears, and the short bub of a tail and think a dog like that wouldn't easily survive in the outback. I get annoyed when people confuse the two breeds they look nothing alike. Australian sheps wouldn't be so annoying to me if the name would get changed. What's the deal?

he is upto date on all his shots and everything. Well this morning I look in his crate and I see that he threw up and it his throw up is what looks like either a piece of spagetti or a worm. There is a 50-50 chance he has eaten spagetti in the last 24 hours. Anyway it is about 4 inches long!!! It is skinny and a light brown color. I dont see a head or any features that makes it look like a worm, meaning that it is smooth. Does anyone know what this might be???

Our lovely dog is rather old and every once and awhile if something is a little bit different than normal (she doesn't like change) she gets really nervous. She trots around the house and turns around really quickly and refuses to lie down and stuff. What can we do to reassure her?

I hate to keep this so short I could write a book but, my vet needed to mussle my dog, yes that had to be done for treatment. What he did was cruel and I will follow up legally. My dog had diahrea and was vomiting. My Vet was very mean and rough while he had him mussled. He kept him mussled too long.So if any of you have any wonderful ideas how to hang an ausbive vet legally I am all for it. But do need my medical Question answered too.
If my dog had vomited while mussled? Could he have developed Aspiration pneumonia? I need this for my formal state complaint to the investigator?

My sister fed her dog all natural products like meat, farmer's cheese, eggs, etc. I want to try to feed her dog food, because I am afraid that she is not getting enough nutrients. What is good to buy for her? I think she is not used to dry food. Any suggestions?

I have wondered about this for a long time, but I can't find info about it on the internet. I am hoping that someone with actual dog training experience, and not just anecdotes, will be able to weigh in, but all answers are welcome.

I am not an idiot. I know that dogs cannot tell time. But our dog does a very curious thing. My husband comes home from work between 4:30 and 5:00 most days, and every day, sometime around 4:20, our dog goes and takes one or two of her favorite toys out of her basket and places them in the place where they play together when he comes home. She then hops into her spot by the window and settles down to wait. My question is how the heck does she know the proper time?

She understands when other things are about to happen because of cues. I walk her in the evenings, but I don't follow a set schedule, so she just starts watching for me to change my shoes and grab the leash, and then she knows it's walk time. But how does she know the other stuff?
