Yes, both dogs and humans can have separation anxiety. It is relatively common.

Definately. Dogs feelings are much like humans feelings and at one point in their life every person goes through seperation anxiety, whether it be from leaving your husband, leaving your parent's house, or just leaving a really awesome party!

Yeah it is very common. Especially when kids are going off to college, or moving out of their parents house. Usually it is more effected in females, but males get it too. In my experience it was always my parents that suffered from the seperation anxiety, like when i went to college and moved out of the house. But I know the children also suffer from it too.

Yes, dogs definitely get separation anxiety. It's most common in dogs who have at one time been abused, dogs adopted from shelters, etc. If you have a dog with this disorder, you can help them overcome it.

Yep Separation Anxiety is part of the DSM (Psychological Disorders Manual).. mainly experienced in kids and adolescents.. but can be experienced at any time..
And on a less diagnostic scale I guess we can all relate to it when we miss someone..

The term separation anxiety was used on humans before they were ever used on dogs....so yeah, it's definitely possible.

yes, when i went on vacation, i left my 2 dogs for 3 days. my neighbor was feeding the dogs for me. i had one that would not eat the entire time i was gone. she goes everywhere with me now
