i was petting my dog and found one spot was itching him. i looked closer and saw a penny size red spot on his skin. it was reddish and probably with blood sprinkled on top or something. it might have been a spider bite or something that he itched too much. i dono anyway i put neosporine on it. is neosporine safe for dogs on open wounds? any other suggestion?

Since 2000 there have been over 33,000 complaints made by consumers across the nation about Hartz flea products. Twenty-four different TV news stations have done reports about the effects of Hartz flea products. There has been one class action filed against Hartz, which was settled out of court.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A nationally sold pet product may be harming or even killing your pet. And now, an NBC 6 investigation has found that a warning label that the maker said could fix the problem is not working.

Flea and tick products are found in millions of homes in South Florida and across America. One of them is generating thousands of complaints and horror stories.

Consumers are reporting that their cats are going into convulsions, seizures, are unable to walk or control their muscles.

An Arkansas veterinarian videotaped several cases of severe reactions. When pet owners like Karen West, of West Palm Beach, saw the videotape, they said it's exactly what they witnessed

When he sleeps he twitches, he's doing it right now. I'm going to freak out! Like, you know when you watch those shows on animal planet with the fast motion of an animal decomposing? That's what it look s like to me except not as fast an not as much.
Oh, and sometimes it looks like he shivers, with his mouth ( not showing teeth), but only when he's awake.Kinda how when you try to hold back yawns, you know? You're lips go "ba ba ba ba"? It's really weird, he's been doing it for a while now. Never really was to concerned.
I will take him to a vet, but I want to know what you think it is first. Is this normal?

I live in Southern Cali and I live in an apartment. My neighbors have a snake, 2 birds, and most importantly, a tiny chiuaha (spelling?) dog, and they leave them all outside, practically all day. We have been experiencing well over 100 degree weather here, and the poor little dog cries and cries outside the door the whole time its out there. I think this is so mean- it s breaks my heart, and it has been going on about a week. I complained to the management and they did nothing. Do you think this is animal cruelty? Who can I report it to? Thanks!

my dog has been sick since yesterday... Today he was puking foam and has had a trace of blood in his stool this evening.. he hasnt drank or ate anything all day... im really worried about my puppy hes 5mths...we dont have 24 hour vet here. When i came home I forced him to drink and then he drank on his own a few times not much at all.. i was at work when my friend came over this evening and she told me that he probably had parvo... my dog Dusty never wanders off far from my porch and hes been going back to the wooded area in the back off my house.. My 11yr. old is crushed by this. Do dogs really wander off to die?? And my original ?? was could he might not have parvo if i got him to drink?? i looked up parov and he is doing everthing that a dog would do if they had parvo with the exception of drinking and eating please help my 11yr old and i would appreciate those who answer this to take this serious as if it was thier dog... Thank you for trying to help inform us we really need it...

We make sure she has plenty of chew toys and chewy snacks and she still finds is nessicary to chew on our belongings. She is almost 10 months old, and she has always been anxious. I assumed that she would calm down as she got older, but it has gotten worse. She used to just run away when she heard a strange noise, and now she barks like crazy.

If she hears a noise outside, she freaks out, starts barking, and runs to the window (or various windows) to see what it is.

This happens many times throughout the day. The only way I can calm her down is to pick her up and pet her. What can I do to make her more calm?

I've posted this question under several different categories in hopes that someone may be able to enlighten me.

I have two small dogs and in my neighbourhood it's very common to have more than one. It's just that kind of place. Anyways, I am used to the amount of attention my boys get...the usual stuff: oh, they're so cute, what breed are they, are they brothers...that sort of stuff...here's where the problem comes in. Once a year our area hosts a music festival...3 nights of bands playing on the street. Over the last few years, attendees have taken lots of photos of my dogs as if we're part of the show! For the past 2 nights, the dogs have had their photo taken about 20 times! Why would you want a photo of dogs you'll never see again? Why wouldn't you ask whether it was ok? So far the only people who ask are those that wanting to take their photo while holding them. Dognapping is a problem around here. Am I being paranoid or is this situation wierd? Any ideas what's up?

Our Yorkshire terrier about 9 yrs old licks us on the hand or arm quite frequently and tries for the face. Is it affection or salt content or a nervous habit or what ever?

We are considering getting a Labrador as a family pet. Its just me, my husband and my 12yr old son. Are their any Lab owners here that tell me how hard these dogs are to train (basic behavior, potty, etc) and to take care of? I realize that they need alot of exercise, and they wont be a problem. Also, how bad do they shed?
Any advice will be helpful, Thanks!

We have a young jack russell(7mos) that snaps at one of my grandchildren and only one. He hasn't bitten him really hard, but scares him. I don't know if the dog is jealous of the child, or if he feels the child is smaller than he. I really like the dog and have grown attached to him. I really hate to get rid of him. Please help!!!
