What's your opinion on shaving the fur on my golden retriever for the summer? Groomer did it once and it was wonderful...all the undercoat was gone and helped with shedding. Have heard good and bad on this subject. I know to keep her out of the sun during the afternoon for fear of sunburn...but does shaving mess with their natural ability to keep cool? Thanks!

He is male and he only pees on the couch occassionally when we leave the house. He is housebroken and never messes anywhere else. He only seems to do it when we have a blanket on the couch to help keep his hair off the upholstry. He also did this to the dog bed we used to leave out for him and if we leave a blanket out just lying on a chair. We have tried the sprays to discourage resoiling but they don't seem to work.

Yucky horrible TICKS!! I have been pulling them off with tweezers and giving them baths with Flea and TICK soap then I spray them with some dog flea and TICK killer, and I have sprayed the yard. Now what? we still have them..... I have kids and I won’t let them play in the back yard and I don't even want the dogs back there but I have no other choice for now but to keep them in the back yard. Please anyone with a good Idea!!!!

My doggy Honey has this weird habit.. When she sleeps in her fleece oval bed ( like these http://www.fortunepet.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16&products_id=172 ) she would bite on the edge and keep it in her mouth while sleeping (kind of like how babys suck on their thumbs) hah, its cute. She cant sleep without doing that. Also is that normal?

haah and also one funny thing is that she drags the bed with her EVERYWHERE. She follows me and my parents around with the bed hah (:

Any of your doggys have weird/cute habits?

I am thinking that Brutis might have cancer, he has a little lump on his chest for a couple months, he is a 1 year old boxer mix. The lump doesnt seems to brother him; however, if i start rubbing on his lump area, he seems tickle... I am guessing it might be something call histiocytomas or Mast Cell Tumor. It is pink in color, about the size of a thumb. I am planning to buy him a pet insurance from petcare and getting the one with 100% coverage. Does anyone know how much does it costs for doing a cancer surgery? they have one that cover up to 3000 dollars and one that cover 6000 dollars. Thanks

i have two dogs...we often let them run out in the mountain (they know their way home). They often get leeches. I thought it was normal, like when they run through the mountains the leeches would attach themselves but a friend told me it's unsual to get leeches so often? is this true? should i have my dogs checked?

So far in 2 years my dog has had 7 seizures. I noticed if I take him to the park (which he loves), he will have one after running a lot. Once when I was giving him a shower, he had one. What can I do? It would be awful if he could not go to the park and run around anymore.
