I just think this is a stupid idea. My mother-in-law keeps telling me to do this cause my cat broke my christmas tree down by laying in it i guess all weekend while i was away taking care of my sick mom.
I figured it would be a waste to buy another one cause i know it would do the same to a new one.
I figure by next christmas the cat will be grown and not bother a tree.

Hi Everyone,

This is a continuation of a series of questions/updates. See my profile for more info.

I'm happy to report that Spider was back at the barn last night when I went to class. As suspected, she had been hiding in another building on the property. She's doing just fine -- in fact, she's plumper (somebody's been feeding her!). We plan to have her spayed after the first of the year, since she was intent on not showing up for her last appointment.

My question today is -- is there any way to make a cat realize that a particular building, regardless of whether or not there are people there, is "hers"? The ranch owners want her in our building to help control the rodent population.

Thanks a bunch,
Bunni

My 10 year old female tabby cat has just been diagnosed with a small tumour in her throat, I took her to the vets cos she was making funny noises whilst swallowing. He checked her teeth etc and coulnt find anything and on further investigation he found a small hard mass on one side of her tonsil. He reackons its a small tumour. Becasue of where it is he cannot remove it, and has suggested steroids to help try shrink it.
Im scared stiff now, I love my little cat and am worried sick.
is there nothing else we can do to help her?????

I normally sit on the floor and read or go on my laptop and whenever I am sitting down on the floor, my cat will jump up on my shoulder and sit there for a while, I think its so cute that she does this, but I have had cats my whole life and none of them did this, (maybe it's because I treat her like shes my child? lol Oh and she also talks to me, if I meow at her, she'll meow back and it can sometimes go on and on for minutes) does anyone else have a cat that does this? Just curious.

Hello all. I adopted two kittens from an animal shelter, both are now five months old. Since I adopted them, both have very soft stools. It's not watery and doesn't have any blood or anything unusual. They are very active and playful and eat lots of food. I feed them Purina kitty chow (dry food) and sometimes food that I cook. Since I noticed how soft the stool is, I stopped feeding them food that I cook for a whole week now to see if their stools would harden, but I have seen no improvement. I also never feed them anything dairy, and I give them lots of water. Both kitties have vaccinations and have been dewormed. What could be wrong with them?

I'm still not sure what to get mine. Penelope could use a new bed. The one she likes to nap in occasionally is kinda wimpy and folds up like a clam on her lol They have so many tinsel wands and feathers on a stick and what not. Has anyone seen some cool new toys or treats you're getting your kitties?

This is a disease where you need to be proactive and be the primary caregiver with the vet as a secondary source. I can help you learn what you need to take control.
Here are some tidbits
Doses should never be raised based on fructosamines or a single test. That could be dangerous
Curves at the vets can be off by more the 100 points due to stress and other factors.
Insulin needs can change over time
Are you feeding DM or MD?? You can do oh so much better for cheaper. Lower carbs is what reduces insulin needs.
Were doses ever raised by more then 1/2 bid? sigh
Are you giving more then 5 bid of insulin? sigh
Do you hometest or know how to? it is the ONLY way to know if it is safe to give insulin and get the info u need to treat this correctly. I can teach you how.
There is nothing in this for me except the pleasure of helping
I have owned and adopted diabetic cats for many years and have helped many get controlled by diet after a time

heres the question..prior to my cats passing he was fine! had a bit of a eye infection ( herpes infection of the eye and conjunctivitis) he was going to get the creme the night of his passing. he only had the eye issue for 2 days. he was eating just fine, jumping up on things, etc. no indication of him being ill . I am with my animals 24/7 so I catch illness at the start! Well the only thing is the night prior to his passing he took a couple licks of the tea i had on the table. it is a sweet dreams herb tea, it contains chamomile, hibiscus, peppermint leaves, rose blossoms, spearmint leaves, spice, and orange blossoms. any of those poison to a cat? during his passing he had a seizure which lasted about 5sec. he was lethargic, he could not walk it was as if he was paralyzed. he would not open his eyes at all (strange seeming I used a bit of that tea to soothe his eyes) there is no poison in my home! I clean with a bit of dawn dish soap and water! please help!!

My interest is about the two weeks to heal. I would like to know what you and your cat have been through during those two weeks (how did they walk, use litterbox, did they seem comfortable/uncomfortable,etc.))........I've I've read all the negatives, and moral arguments, but no answers explained what the healing process was like. I'm not asking whether to do it or not, or if is humane or not. I'm not asking for opinions. I looking for descriptions of the two weeks after for someone who has gone through it with their cat. Thank you in advance.
