They are worms. Get meds for it, they sell pills, pastes, and liquids. You can buy it at places like Walmart or take it to your vet. Likey tape worms btw.

As everyone has noted, your kitten has worms, and if they are shedding segments or eggs out her rear when she is resting, and her tummy is swollen with them, she has a very bad infestation indeed. This is particularly bad for a kitten, who is building the basics of the body she will have for the rest of her life. She needs her nutrition now, every bit of it. But when you feed her, you are NOT feeding her. You are feeding a worm farm. The next -- and final -- stage of an infestation like this is for her to start vomiting worms, which will mean they are in her stomach.
Disgusting! Yechhh!
Do not use over the counter remedies for this infestation. Take her to the vet and let him dose her. The meds he has are powerful, and they will get rid of these ghastly parasites immediately. OTC meds may not be the right ones or may not be effective. If you buy the wrong stuff or something that is too weak, you will just face the same problem a second time, and maybe even a third. She could have an adverse rection to something you give her, as well, and then you will have problem on top of problem.
Take her in to the vet. It is worth the money.

As everyone so far has said, your kitten most likely has worms, and needs to be given an all-wormer to be rid of them. You can buy them from petshops or veterinary surgeries, and they aren't expensive. You will need to give the kitten a course of tablets, not just as a once off, to make sure the worms have all been killed. Read the instructions on the packaging or ask the vet's office for advice when you purchase them.
Keep in mind, too, that humans can become infested with worms from animals, so you need to keep your personal hygiene up - make sure you wash your hands each & every time you handle your kitten, and before eating - every time. You may want to perhaps buy yourself some worming medication as well, just to be sure.

As everyone has already suggested, I would say your kitten has intestinal worms.... depending on what these are, yes, your family can pick them up but treatment for worms in people is generally inexpensive and available off the shelf at your chemist.
The kitty's fat belly is due to the worms as well... you should take her to the vets to have a full check up and to get some wormer. Depending on the size of the worm burden and her overall health she could be suffering... so to the vets with no time wasted :)

Do they resemble maggots or rice? SOunds like a tapeworm infestation and these are segments that come off in the intestine and pass through the bowel. Tapeworms are transmitted by your pet ingesting a flea or rodent that is hosting an intermediate stage of the tapeworm lifecycle. They are easily treated by visiting your vet. Take a fecal specimen so they can accurately diagnose the parasite and dispense medication to clear it up. Best wishes.
ADD: THey are just grose. Your family can't get them from the segments. ONly by eating a flea or rodent. So you are safe. Always use good hand washing skills though, because other types of worms are transmitted by ingesting eggs which are passed in the feces and could get on your hands from a pet's fur. And her tummy sounds distended or bloated, which is a symptom of parasite infestation.

It's tapeworm, those are easily treatable so get the medicine from the vet and give it to her.
Can it harm you or your family? Only if you eat one. I highly doubt that would happen.
Her belly is bloated with the worms, so get her checked over and on the medication right away.
