I just think this is a stupid idea. My mother-in-law keeps telling me to do this cause my cat broke my christmas tree down by laying in it i guess all weekend while i was away taking care of my sick mom.
I figured it would be a waste to buy another one cause i know it would do the same to a new one.
I figure by next christmas the cat will be grown and not bother a tree.

Wow, I've never heard of that. That seems odd..... but I guess it would work. Interesting. Does anybody have a picture of their tree bolted to the ceiling??? I'd love to see that.

My cats don't bother our tree too much anymore. When our little guy was a kitten he would climb all up inside it and walk around in it, but now he's a bit larger and stays on the ground.

We teather our tree to an eye bolt in the ceiling. EVERY year. We have 10 cats and they ALL bother the tree. One is 19 and he still likes to play with the ornaments.

You don't hang it from the ceiling. Like the first poster you tether it using a hook or eyelet screw. Usually you use some clear fishing line. This won't prevent them from getting ornaments but it will make so the cats can't knock over your tree.

My full grown cat doesn't bother the tree so you might be right, though some cats don't outgrow it.

So the cats won't be able to climb it, I suppose...
