my female almost 1 years old is a very sweet, loving kitten has been ( if she gets the chance ) when someone opens the sliding door ( that leads into the backyard ) sometimes she will just run out there. we are able to catch her but it takes time .. she has been doing it around 5 times and we do not want anything to happen to her. i dont know what to do anymore to get her to stop trying to run outside. (she loves to look out the window at the sliding door) what should i do!? please help. thanks!

About two weeks ago, I lost my beloved calico cat of 8 years to kidney failure. I miss her horribly, and am so overcome with emotion sometimes. I realize that I miss having a cat around, and was wondering if a kitten would help or hurt me. I realize that a new cat would not be a "replacement" for my other cat, but would keep me company. Is this a good idea, and if so, where should I get it?

I have a cat that is 21 years old. I have had him since birth. Now is the time that I have to decide.....should I put him to sleep? I have thought for years that it was his time but he has just kept going. He even made a trip in the car from California to Tennessee. I can now tell by the look in his eyes that it won't be long. My dilema is that we are leaving next week to fly home for Christmas.......we are going to have a pet sitter take care of our 3 cats........but what if something happens and I am not here? Should I just let him live out his days until the end or should I be the one to decide when the end is? I just don't know if I can do that......I am sure he is in a little pain just due to age but he is still eating some and using his box. He does vomit but has been doing that for years.......Any words of wisdom from anyone that has been in this situation?

I need to know if cats can have a skin disorder that can be passed on to humans? I have a cat that is always scratching. He even has scabs on a small area where he has licked and or bitten. I have used shampoo, cream and even a spray for this on him (I don't have money to take him to the vet right now. I have to wait at least two more weeks.) My skin is extremely itchy especially if I get a cat hair on me. I have used creams, oatmeal soaks, etc. But nothing! I have been taking allergy medications to aleviate the discomfort. I've had cats all my life and never dealt with this problem can anyone give me any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.

Ok, I'm not sure if that's a lot of weight but everyone who see's my cat says, "wow,,she's a little fatty, isn't she" So, as far as her getting any heavier I'd like to nip it in the butt now. She eats Iams food, is she too young for diet Iams? I've cut down on her snacks too. A LOT. Anyway, I would just like someone to fill me in on diet Iams for a young cat. Oh,,,and for the most part she carries most of her weight in her belly if that means anything. (first time cat owner)

They found blood in the urine and are putting him on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Is it a good thing that no crystals were found? Does that mean I caught it early on? Thanks for any help.

She has six, 6-week old kittens, her second set in about 4 months. We are forced to wean the kittens because she is scheduled to be spayed next week and she has to stop nursing 1 week prior to surgery. She is very engorged and miserable. What can we do?

Allie (kitten in the avatar) has been staring at the swag light fixture for a few days now. At first I thought maybe there was a bug or a dust bunny on it catching her eye but there is none. Given her history of jumping on everything in the house, I have come to the conclusion she is planning an ambush on the light. It will fall when she does and I don't want her to get hurt. How would I go about discouraging her from it? I can't be with her all the time and she's pretty determined. I can't take it down so HELP!

so my cat has fleas, i'm pretty sure. actually i'm about 99% sure. we bought him flea medicine.. put it where the box said to put it. it's been about a week..and i really don't see any difference. i don't knwo. anyway! he has these wounds all over the place from picking and scratching and his WHOLE area near the tip of his tail is FULL of scabs, really gross ones. bloody and whatnot. :( i was thinking about giving him a bath, warm water and just rinsing out his cuts and wounds. would this be effective at all? should i just try to get him to a vet instead? don't really have that much money though :/ thanks!

I've had cats with kidney problems but they've always drank tons of water. The kitten hardly drinks at all but she uses the litter box every 2 hrs or so. She goes a normal amount not like a drip or so to indicate a urinary tract infection...I just got her 3 weeks ago and i'm really worried.

My 19 month old cat weighs 15 pounds. I don't how this is possible but i lover her so much and i am worried about her getting diabetes. If i start a weight loss program this month, and she eventually starts to lose weight, will she still have a risk of getting diabetes? What is she loses weight over a perid of a year? Does she still have a very high chance of getting diabetes during that time?? She does not show any signs but i want to prevent it before things get much worse. Thanks so much!
