I've had cats with kidney problems but they've always drank tons of water. The kitten hardly drinks at all but she uses the litter box every 2 hrs or so. She goes a normal amount not like a drip or so to indicate a urinary tract infection...I just got her 3 weeks ago and i'm really worried.

How about a trip to the vet?? Sounds like the right thing to do at this point. Better than worrying!!!

Kidney disease and urinary tract infection are two different, but related things, first of all. They are kind of getting mixed together in your question. One involves the kidneys, primarily, and the other involves the bladder, primarily.

A trip to the vet is a good idea.

Also, your kitten has a small bladder. She may need to go every few hours because of that.

She may also be having fun digging in the litter.

But a visit to the vet, if you are worried, will get to the root of the problem right away.

Some kittens have underdeveloped bladders and will sometimes have to urinate frequently. I don't know why a vet will give antibiotics 'just in case', especially when the test results will be back in a day.

Your kitten might have a Bladder Infection. One of my cats had one. If its not drinking I recommend you see your vet. If 4 month old kitten get dehydrated it could become seriously ill.

I agree with the others that it sounds like diabetes. Stop the dry food until you see the vet(give her more wet), change the litter box as often as needed. Provide a second pan where your cat can defecate. If you have to wait more than two or three days to see your vet, call them and says it's serious. You've waited too long (a YEAR?) to have her checked out.

This sounds normal for a kitten. She's a baby, she can't hold it as long, and her bladder is small. Don't worry so much. :)

Vet time, eh? Poor little babe. It could still be a UTI.
