Yes you should go to a vet really, it may not be fleas.
A few things you can ask yourself first though: 1) What flea treatment did you use, and where was it from? If it was anything bought from a store you can be assured it won't have worked.
2) If it was a proper treatment from a vets, did it get all on her skin properly?
3) Do you need to treat your house too? Probably because if the cat has fleas, the house will too
Flea allergies are harder to control than regular infestations, because you have to get rid of ALL fleas. This can be done, but not using store-bought products.

I am going with the frontline, but you no longer have to go to the vet you can get it at petco. Also as far as you getting bit, The fleas are in your room. You need to treat it like it's Lice. Wash and bag once the cat is treated with fromtline for a week or two let it back in the fleas that are left will flock to him and die off. I am allergic to flea bites so I need to take benadryl when I get bit. it reduces the swelling and rash. An icecube rubbed on the spot will help a bit.

I had a dog that was alergic to the flea bites. She lost alot of hair and had big , ugly sores on her body. I took her to the vet and he sold me the flea killing med that you put under the fur on the back of the animals neck. The sores didn't go away because she wouldn't stop scratching them. I finally went to the pet store a got a shampoo with oatmeal and aloe. I soaped her down twice and made sure to rinse all the shampoo out. That did the trick.
Cats aren't any different than dogs regarding flea bites. Be sure to wear gloves if you give your cat a bath-they really fight it. Make sure not to get any soap in his ears or eyes.

Take your cat to the vet, to look at the wounds, & while your there you can get some flea treatment for him. get the vet to recommend the best one. Don't get Frontline, it doesn't work & its just a waste of money. But you might need to find out if your cat has heart worm before you give any treatment, a simple blood test from your vet while your there will tell you.

Hello, Don't use over the counter flea meds as they don't work and can be fatal to the cat. Your cat is heavily infested so I would advise to get him to the vet for treatment. While he is at the vet, have everyone and all pets out of the house and set off flea defoggers. Get a bug spray for the front and backyards.

Yes a warm bath may help, but be careful cats don't like baths...they will scratch. The over the counter flea drops rarely work. Try frontline from your vet!

I would just take him to the vets, it might not be fleas it could be a skin disease and putting the flea medicine or any medicine on the scabs could cause it to get worse. Just take him in, they can give him something for it and point you in the right direction. Good luck with everything! My vet does payment plans with me when theres an emergency see if your vet would be willing to do something like that!

Have you taken care of the flea problem yet? If you don't get rid of the fleas, he's never going to get better.
If his skin is as bad as you describe, get him to a vet - he's probably very uncomfortable and the skin lesions can become infected without treatment.
