Are cats "fixed", not as likely marking will occur.

If the cats have started spraying before neutering, chances are this will not break the habit, but may calm it somewhat. When you see your cat positioning himself to spray, clap loudly and so "no", or keep the water bottle handy. If you can catch him in the act, spray the hiney. Clean every area where he has sprayed with a pet enzyme cleaner and block off those areas for several weeks.

Even if the cat is "fixed" it may still spray. We kept a small spray bottle and set it for a "stream", every time our calico tried to mark something, the couch, the curtains etc... we just gave her a couple squirts to stop her mid "spray". She eventually got the idea and stopped doing it. Its often a learned behavior and you just help them "unlearn" it.
You can also mist the area where its been marked by the cat with a water/lemon juice and cayenne pepper to stop them from spraying that area again and it won't 'smell good" to them anymore.
Good Luck!

In an emergency you can always resort to stud pants. These can be home made and use a thin pad (feminine napkin). Just google the words cat stud pants and you'll find sites. Breeders use these on their males so they can be out of the cages and in the home reliably.
