Ok about 2 months ago I noticed this patch of hair on my cats back that was thinner than the other, as if she were missing some hair, and with time it just grew and grew. I thought maybe her hair was thinning out. She doesn't have any kind of bug on her, she's an indoor cat, she's 7 years old, and there have been no changes around here, no change in food, people, environment, nothing. But just a couple days ago when I was laying with her on the couch, I finally discovered why her hair was like that, because she was RIPPING it off of her back and eating it! I've researched that thyroid problem, it's not that, she's not acting strange beside pulling her hair out, she isn't gaining/lossing weight...So could any one help?

Many years ago I recall reading about cats essentially having their bones broken and stuffing them stylish see through bottles or something. But the cats were still alive. And people were selling them. Basically as pets in a bottle. It was literally the sickest thing I've ever seen. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this or knows a wesbite that talks about this. I believe it was being done in another country- Asian countries. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

I just got a new cat, never had one before. I got her a week ago. She's about 6 months old and walks around like she's obssessed w/her claws. She is clawing everything, including myself. I wanted her to be an indoor cat, but if she doesn't stop I'm going to have to put her outside. Why do you think she's doing this? Claws in, claws out, claws in, claws out, even in her sleep!

I lost my cat Gizmo about two years ago. She was a tortus shell calico. She had eyes that reminded you of human eyes.
I found her being attacked by a dog when she was about 6 months old. I nurched her back to health (the way the vet told me to). When I put the cream on her bite marks she would purr, although the cream burned. (the vet told me it would).

I thought I was over the greiving process, but today I was walking my dog, I came across a cat that looked just like her and it made me sad.

It upsets me terribly that there are so many cats and dogs that are unwanted. People need to understand that spay/neuter is very important to stop the killing of all these unwanted pets. Please give me your thoughts! Thankyou!

We've just gotten a siamese kitten.
She's 13 weeks old now.

We've decided to breed her when she reaches at least 1 year of age.
We have a friend who is a vet, and she has agreed to help us out.

And don't worry, we're only allowing her to have 1 litter.
We already have homes for half of the soon-to-be-born kittens
(crazy, I know.)

My question is,
after she has had one litter, when can she get spayed?
Or can she get spayed at all?

I've read so many things online and everything seems to contradict everything else. Maybe someone who is in the animal field or someone who has experience with orphaned kittens or breeding kittens can help... My husband was working at a local oil company and one of the drivers found 3 abandoned kitties in a ditch so of course, my husband took one home. I wish he had done all or none, but thats a whole other issue. I think she is between 2 and 3 weeks, but here is whats going on with her development:
-Her eyes are now completely open, but 3 days ago one was completely open and the other was only half open
- she tries to roam around a little bit, but her back legs seem to be very week and she flops over on her back a lot
- her ears still seem to be folded although in the past three days I think they have "unfolded" slightly
- she purred the other night when I had her cuddled on my chest
Can anyone make a good guess? Thanks!

There's an old neglected cat walking around in my neighbourhood. Does anybody recognize these symptoms ?
- dry cough
- swallows very oft
- has diarea
- extremely thin
- hardly any theeth
- terrible looking fur

I think I will take him to a vet, I'm just curious about what he could have and what the costs will be. Could he have astma ? Or a throat infection ?
Thank you

He went to the toilet in his tray this morning after running round like a mad thing, his toilet was clear but there was a tiny amount of blood on his fur afterwards - could this be a reaction to his microchip or the fact that he is now eating proper food (was a stray) he was de-wormed twice by the society before we collected him! Any one have any advice, I have 4 children and don't want them to be in danger of catching anything - I'll obviously take him to the vet for a check-up but any advice before hand would be great.
Thanks

I have two cats. Brother and sister. born may 19 2000. the male is very over weight and his sister is small. they are very finicky eaters and share the food dish. I am worried about the males weight. I also have a problem with shedding. They only eat dry food.

I am bringing home 2 new kittens. The owner of the mother has just told me that she has treated them for fleas because her one adult cat got out. She used a treatment that is placed on the back....forget what brand she mentioned (hertz maybe). My question is how effective are these treatments and how fast do they work? I do not want to bring fleas into my home. Will the kittens be flea free within a few days? And also, do you think I should treat them (again) and or bath them when we get home? They are 10 weeks old. Also, when is it ok to fix them (1 boy, 1 girl) and when do they start their shoots? Thank you

He had his does yesterday morning, but the little tike then ran out and has only just returned so has missed his doses last night and this morning. I have just given him a dose and will do so again tonight will they still work? He has had a tooth removed and so i think these are because of that just as a preventitive.

For instance, when you see a cat preparing to leap, say, from a chair to a doorstep, it always poises its self, checks everything out, and jumps with absolute precision. But do they ever miss their targets? I suppose nervous accidents and non-concentration are human traits, but can they also apply to other animals?

My indoor/outdoor cat has some brown stuff/marks on the bridge of her nose and by her nostril. Is it an infection, some type of parasite, or are they scabs of scratches? i have been putting peroxide on it and it doesnt bubble. she also woke up this morning with a swollen crusty eye, which cleared up in an hour. she seems like she feels fine and it is not painful to her. i am wondering if i should take her to the vet. I would prefer not to unless i was sure i had to b/c i know it will be hundreds of dollars later.

My kittens 1 male, 1 female are about 5 1/2 months old. The vet has no openings til next week to fix them and while the female has shown no signs of being in heat, the male has had his nose up her rear end for 2 days now (he's not mounting her, just sniffing). He doesn't look like he's dropped yet. Is this what I think or am I being paranoid? I will have them fixed as soon the vet can get to them. But til then should I be worried? They aren't siblings.
