there is this stuff, sold at petsmart, its by zodiac, we had a similar situation, and it erradicated them in two days. it comes in a cannister, like a hairspray bottle, and costs about $20 or maybe a little over. its their most expensive spray product, and says it kills eggs too. the egg killing is VERY important lol. we have a ton of large furniture, and the carpet powder didnt nick them at all. we sprayed that stuff all over the house, left for the day, and they were immediately gone. we managed to spray a little under most of the large furniture, and did the same thing the next day. we have never had another flea lol. even if you cant treat under your furniture like us, it makes all your exposed floors unlivable, so they eventually die off. i found the stuff online and left a link below. we had tried a few different products before this stuff, and no luck. this was the only thing that worked. oh, we took our cat, and locked her in the bathroom for four hours after spraying. we had a baby daughter at the time crawling all over the floor as well, and no ill effects to either of them.

You can flea tent the house which is rather expensive.

Or take the best vacume you can find and cut up a few flea collars andput them in the bag. Then thurougly clean everything including beds, washing bedding, etc. Leave nothing undone.

Unless thats too much work. which it can be. But get rid of the cats fleas while doing the house. or have the cat taken to a salon and have it dipped.

The tent is the easiest but most expensive method.

go buy flea bombs. make an appointment to see your vet. just before taking your cat to the vet, set off the flea bombs in the house (read instructions and time limits carefully) . take your cat to the vet so they can give you some flea preventative (frontline or advantage). take a sample of your cats stool to the vet to have it checked for internal parasites (fleas cause tape worms in pets). when you return home, leave the cat in the car or in a carrier outside. go into the house and open the windows to release the pesticides. go back outside until the house airs out. then go in and vacuum everything(remember to get rid of the bag as soon as you are done or they will just multiply in the bag), wipe down counters and eating areas, and wipe down anywhere that the pesticides can be accidentally ingested. wash all the bedding of your cat if there is any.

There is a spray for fleas that you can use for the infested areas. You can get this in any pet store for example Petsmart. For your cat you can treat him with any anti-flea available at any pet store as well and give him a bath using an anti-flea shampoo. I picked up a kitten with lots of fleas a year ago and I did just that. But that kitten was indoors from then on. If you can't keep your cat indoors make sure you give him preventive medication like Frontline plus. You can also make him wear a flea and tick collar.

There are products at Walmart or pet store that will help. I got fleas in my RV from a neighbor who had cats. I am allergic so I had an awful time getting the bites to heal. I still have permanent skin discoloration where the bites were.
It took about 3 months for me to feel better. I had to buy prescription medicine to get healed and also sprays to kill the fleas and eggs in my RV. I sprayed for several weeks to be sure.

Good Luck

Treat the cat with Advantage.

Any fleas on her will die, any others that jump on her in the next 6 weeks will die too.

Drag out your dehumidifier and turn the thing on. Eggs of fleas need moisture in the air to hatch, take away that moisture and they shrivel and die. It breaks the cycle and you'll be free of them.

first of all take your cat to the vet!!! the vet will give it a pill for you to give to it and it will make the fleas get off of it then you need to get frontline for it. humans do not get fleas!!! our blood is not warm enough for them. you need to go to the store and get Borax, it is a clothing detergent, and sprinkle it around base boards, and in the carpets, the fleas will eat it and die. then after a weak vacumme them all up! then you will be flea free, trust me , did that exact thing and i have 6 cats. never had fleas again.
