Cats - October 2006

In a few weeks my cat will be going under the knife, so to speak. I'm just curious if he'll feel different after the operation. Obviously we can't ask our cats this... but it's made me wonder if they wake up and kind of freak out because something has "changed." Do cat's somehow know that a vital part of their anatomy is now gone; are they aware that something has been taken away?

She's a Siamese indoor cat, her eyes were blue, now they're brown. She's over 10yrs old.
For the last few days she's been eating more, and using the litter box more.
I'm calling the Vet in the morning, but I'd like to get some idea on what to expect.

I know that there are other questions like this one, but all of the stories have been different, so here goes:
I got my female kitten (she is 7 months old) spayed last Monday. We picked her up at the vet on Tuesday, and the vet told me to put her on paper litter. On Tuesday night she went pee on my roommates bed. Then on Wednesday morning she went pee on my bed. I called the vet and they told me to switch her litter back. I did, and untill tonight (Monday) she has been fine.

She went pee on my roommates bed again (wich isn't helping her to like my cat any...). Is this because she can still smell the urine? (I washed her sheets and everything including the mattress pad...) I don't think that my cat has been doing it to be mean, because she is always nice to my roommate... I really don't know what to do.

I guess what I really need is to call the vet and get that stuff to remove pet smells.

Any suggestions?

My cat has been limping for 3 weeks already and I was wandering if this was a coming disease for cats. My cat is 14 years old so is this normal. Is this a sign of arthritis or weakness in bones??

I am getting a kitten soon and I want to know how I can litter box train the kitten. Also... would this litter box be good for a kitten? I'm afraid that it is too high for the kitten to get into and the kitten won't use the litter box. If it's not a good litter box, which one would be best?

Any other information about kittens/cats would be helpful.

The things are not alive as far as I know. They are brownish red, very tiny, probably less than 1/32 of an inch long and have a worm-like shape. I am finding them curled up, almost as if they have died. It falls off of the cat when she sleeps and when she gets up, 10-15 can be found left wherever she was laying. It seems as if they might be coming from her butt since they are always found where her rear end was laying. I have given her a bath and sprayed her with flea medicine and do not know what it is.

A small portion of the tip of her tail is white. She has striped dark and light grey legs. Blue eyes (do all kittens) and a Orange patch next to one of her gorgeous ears.
Please and thank you, No cali!!

My cat went to the vet today to get a rabies and booster shot. It has been 4 hours later and he just wants to hide, if you pick him up he cries, he isn’t himself.

I adopted a new cat last week. She wantes to play but when she does she will just lay there and watch what were doing. Also, the first time I introducted her to cat balls she had a ball, now she won't have anything to do with them. When I do play with her, and use my hands, she'll take my fingers and put them in her mouth and nibble. Wounder what to do with play time? Don't know if she is just picky and is not happy with the cat toys we have for her. She is a 1 and 1/2 yrs old. Thanks for the help.

I have a large black tomcat called Morpheus, which I raised from three days old after his mother died. He's my own private miricle and I love him very much. Yet, he hates my father (who is a pastor). He hisses at him, has jumped at him, and my father accuses him of waking him up during his dreams. He has threatened me with even have him put down. I've been told it's probably my own animosity toward my father and the cat is reacting to it and attempting to protect me, but I thought I'd go for a wider range of opinions. Can anyone give a little advice?

I took my 2 cats last Monday to be spayed. They told me that one was in heat and the other was very early on in her 1st pregnancy. I brought them home the next day and they seemed fine, slept a bit more than usual. Now they are just wild. They are running and jumping all over the place. They are tearing down the house. I thought that having them spayed would calm them, that's what I heard anyhow. I sthis normal behavior? Will they settle down? Any suggestions? They don't bither me with this behavior, I am just worried about them.
