Kitty may possibly be a bit tired the evening of the surgery. Put him somewhere where he can just rest. Offer him a small amount of food that night and back to a regular diet the next day. As for urinating elsewhere, not likely to happen just because he was neutered. Cats don't hold things against people as other posts have suggested!

If your cat has not started spraying already he shouldn't do it after he is neutered. He'll probably be sleepy when you bring him home. Just follow any instructions your vet gives you about food and water, if he does. Sometimes they don't want them to have anything for a few hours afterwards. Depend on when the neutering was done and the time you pick him up.

If he starts peeing in other places it could be a sign of a urinary infection and you should take hime back to the Vet.

Just keep an eye on him. If you see any discharge or bleeding call your Vet.

I don't have a male cat, I have 3 females. You can expect he'll be missing things when he gets home, and that will be a change for a one year old cat. He will be sore and have a wound that he will not want litter getting into. Ask your vet, but I think giving him shredded newspaper in the litter box for a few days may make it easier on him. Maybe that is why the female did what she did. I've heard stories of different reactions in animals. I must just have some good girls, they never gave me a hard time and never "went" anywhere they weren't supposed to.
Well there was that one time I left them for 3 days and went away - Bad kittys!

I took my parents 2 male cats and my 2 males to be neutered earlier this year. All 4 are outdoor cats, thus I was worried about needing to keep them inside for a while following surgery, BUT...the vet assured me they would be completely fine turning them loose outside. That was months ago and all 4 are still doing just fine. My 2 females I kept inside while they healed, BUT....they had stitches. They healed fine and are doing great. Just spoiled rotten!!!
My males and moms males continued on the day they came home from the vet as if nothing happened at all. We live next door to my parents and her males still come around wanting to beat up my males. :-( So they don't really know they are any different than before surgery. Its just they can no longer reproduce.

sometimes cats who are declawed at the same time refuse to use their litter but this is because of the pain in their paws and has nothing to do with the spay or neuter...
he should be ok
allow for 1-2 days extra rest
very seldom will neutered males continue to spray (pee outside their box) but occassionally it does happen

She might want to be neutered after cats have stopped feeding off her, so round 8 weeks. Kittens might want to no longer flow before 8 weeks, and ideally, followed at 13 weeks, this can provide them extra probability to change into independant. We were given ours at 13 weeks and function prevented and problems with behaviour. appreciate them at the same time as you've them :)

my male got neutered last november when he turned a year old also. when i got him home he was VERY out of it from the anethesia but it wore off within 12 hours and he mostly slept for 2 days. they don't eat too much for a while depending on the cat, i guess. he'll go in the litter box better because he doesn't spray around the house, at least mine doesn't--i know it worries you-it did me too, but things turned out purr-fectly, no pun intended.

Well my cat was recently neuterd and when he got home he was sleepy, he will be sore for awhile so don't let him outside for about ten days, and keep him away from stairs for about 48 hours. Don't feed him to much when he gets home, he might throw up[ my cat did] my cat didn't pee all over and he didn't hate me. When you pick him up from the vet he'll feel more like your saving him. Don't worrie He'll be just fine.

After the medication wore off, my male cat didn't do anything different. It depends on the cat. Ask you vet if there's anything you *might* want to do in preperation.
