I adopted a new cat last week. She wantes to play but when she does she will just lay there and watch what were doing. Also, the first time I introducted her to cat balls she had a ball, now she won't have anything to do with them. When I do play with her, and use my hands, she'll take my fingers and put them in her mouth and nibble. Wounder what to do with play time? Don't know if she is just picky and is not happy with the cat toys we have for her. She is a 1 and 1/2 yrs old. Thanks for the help.

Okay, with it being so soon, she is probably still adjusting to the new environment. It was almost a month before my cat would even touch his toys after bringing him home.

If she liked the cat balls at first then she will probably go back to them in time. Cats will get bored with toys in time though. Try shiny things and things that make noise. Most cats also like stuffed mice. Catnip toys are also good.

If she likes to play with your fingers try string or those furry gloves you can find in Walmart that has long fingers with balls on the ends. Also just plain fur gloves on your hand would probably be good. They like playing with your hands a lot, but you got to be careful to not get scratched...lol. I found this soft squeeking mouse at Walmart that looks pretty realistic that my cat just loves. They like anything like that.

Either way just give her time. She is still adjusting. Also make sure she is eating enough, she might also not have enough energy. My cat wouldn't eat properly for two weeks after we got him, and all he wanted to do was sleep. It quickly changed after he settled in though.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

Ok at 1 and 1/2 your cat should still be playful. Try string. Also do you have other cats in the house? If its your only cat maybe shes not feeling well.?

Give her some time. When I brought my cat home I had tons of toys waiting for her and she didn't touch any of them, after about 2 weeks or so after she comfortable with her new home, she started playing with EVERYTHING. I buy her a new toy every week to keep her entertained, sometimes I miss that quiet little kitty that didn't get her paws on everything lol.

Give her a break. She just moved to a new environment and it takes a little getting used to. Also some cats are less playful than others.
