Cats - September 2006

A couple of days ago a young cat decided to park himself near where I live and I saw he was very thin and weak and I fed him and called a friend of mine I knew wanted another cat to keep the one she had rescued a couple of years before company while she was out. I fed him again in the morning and then about two hours later he disappears. I have a sinking feeling that my cranky neighbor lady called Animal Control to pick him up. I wish now I had taken him inside.

Hi--
On Monday I wrote the following:
I think I have to put my 13 year old cat down. I'm 27 and got her when I was 14. She has been peeing and pooping all over the house for the past three months.
I called the vet and scheuled the appt. Should I have made it clear that it should be to put her down? My land lord came by the other day and FREAKED out by the smell---I shampoo the carpet almost daily.
I feel like I'm betraying her-------she hasn't been the same for months she just lies around and looks out the window---Is it time? I cannot imagine life without her. High School, College. I just don't know what to do.
Whatever happends I can't keep her.

I want to thank everyone who gave me such good, loving advice.
I did have to put my cat down yesterday. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I'm still reeling. I know I gave her the best live I could. It was kidney failure. I hope she knew the joy she brought in my life. Thank you again

My cat gets on my table and he has learned not to do it when I'll see him because he knows I'll punish him. So... he gets on the table at night while we're all sleeping and looks out the window. My cat I'm sure, thinks this is funny and that he's getting away w/this. I am very frustrated w/ it though when I wake in the morning to se my blinds have been pushed to the side so someone can look out. I do not want to beat my cat though... give me real answers. And if you say use the spray stuff, tell me how it works please. I don't get it.

My cat ruins my Mom's leather furniture. He runs across the material and leaves claw marks everywhere! I don't wanna get rid of him, but this is becoming a serious problem

Our cat ran away 2days ago, we cannot find any good pictures of her so we have to discribe her to the animal shelter's etc... they keep asking what breed she was but we don't know. My son bought her from someone selling them on a street. Does anyone know a website that might help me? She's a little complicating to describe She's grey with black strips and white chest and tummy, beside the white on her tummy she has a leopard print. She is a short haired cat.

If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happens if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?"

My cat is a female 8 yo and she normally will go out a few times a day, since yesterday she is asleep she had used her litter box and her eyes look OK, do you think she is sick? She ate very little-we had some painting done outside the house and she did not like to be outside during the day.

Does anyone know, scientifically, what it feels like for a cat to be stroked? This sounds bizarre, but it's just that our cat seems to get so much pleasure from it and acts like it's one massive orgasm! Do you think that's what it feels like for them??!

Our cat isn't eating canned food anymore -- only dry food -- and my wife seems to think it's "weening." Can a cat live on dry food alone? (Water too of course).

give it water regularly. She also does not hardly ever (if ever) change the litter. I know this b/c my mom went to visit them and discovered the deplorable condition of their place. And one of the conditions was with this cat -- the poor cat was starving and my bro's GF kept the kitten's food dish (empty!) right next to the poo-filled litter box. My mom cleaned it up and fed the cat and explained to them what needed to be done. My bro is 25 and his GF is 20. What in the world do you say to someone who treats a cat like this? I am so upset. They both live in another state, otherwise I would go over there and rescue that cat right now. My mom lives in a different state too and could not take the cat wi/her. What would you do?? TIA!!!

I have two male cats, Rory and Emerald. They are constantly making out, humping each other and doing other inappropriate sexual activities. I thought it was out of sheer sexual desperation, but I was wrong. I have since brought a couple of female cats into my home, Alice and Trixie. Rory and Emerald growl and hiss at the females and continue to hump each other. Should I separate them?
