give it water regularly. She also does not hardly ever (if ever) change the litter. I know this b/c my mom went to visit them and discovered the deplorable condition of their place. And one of the conditions was with this cat -- the poor cat was starving and my bro's GF kept the kitten's food dish (empty!) right next to the poo-filled litter box. My mom cleaned it up and fed the cat and explained to them what needed to be done. My bro is 25 and his GF is 20. What in the world do you say to someone who treats a cat like this? I am so upset. They both live in another state, otherwise I would go over there and rescue that cat right now. My mom lives in a different state too and could not take the cat wi/her. What would you do?? TIA!!!

You could always just steal the cat and give it to the humane society. The girlfriend will probably just think it ran away. Then again, she might buy another cat. In which case you will have to steal that one too. Be prepared to do a lot of stealing.

It may sound crappy but it is no worse than what they are doing for that little kitten. Make a call into the local Humane Society. They will come out and look at the conditions of the cat and its living area. (dont worry your name will be kept confidential) If they are found to be negligent they will get a citation and will either have to correct the problem or surrender the kitten. If the kitten ends up at the shelter at least then it will find someone to adopt it that will care for it properly. Sucks to have to do that to a family member but the kitten cant take care of itself, they can.

Make an anonymous call to their local animal shelter or animal protection agency and have the cat taken from that witch. Or speak to your brother about how you feel surely if he has a heart he will do something- there are lots of people out there that would love a pet and would take good care of the kitten.

Well under normal circumstances I would report someone like that to the S.P.C.A. A person must provide an animal with adequate food, water, and shelter, and in a cat's case a clean litter box. You should really see if someone can rescue the cat from them. It is in a potentially dangerous situation.

Oh that is so sad! I'm angry myself! Well, somebody on Yahoo Answers must live in the same state as your brother. Tell us where and we'll go save that little kitty! I tell you this, he better not live in the tri-state NY, NJ or CT area because I'll hunt that girl down and after I steal her kitten, I'll kick her *** for being so heartless!

I would call the local police (non-emergency) where they live and get a phone # for a humane officer or they might even handle the case themselves depending on how big the city / town is. Don't wait. They will investigate immediately.

Tell them that they need to take care of their cat, if they love it. If they continue mistreating the cat, call an animal control officer and get the little girl charged for animal abuse.

I would see if there's any type of humane law enforcement in their area. SPCA, PETA....something....they might be interested to hear about the conditions that cat's living in. Poor thing.

Second thing I'd do? Call my brother and chew his ***....then maybe go a round with his dumbass girlfriend.

That is too cruel, why keep a pet if you are not going to care for it. That is too sad. I would report it, so that the cat can get the proper care.
