My cat gets on my table and he has learned not to do it when I'll see him because he knows I'll punish him. So... he gets on the table at night while we're all sleeping and looks out the window. My cat I'm sure, thinks this is funny and that he's getting away w/this. I am very frustrated w/ it though when I wake in the morning to se my blinds have been pushed to the side so someone can look out. I do not want to beat my cat though... give me real answers. And if you say use the spray stuff, tell me how it works please. I don't get it.

REMEMBER... I"m asleep when he's doing this... I can't spray him.

I also can't move my table.... I have one spot in my tiny appt for it and its not moving. I will not change my house around for my cat to be able to look out of all four down stairs windows. He already has perches in the other three and he doesn't need another one....

try a scat mat. it has batteries and you turn it on at night. you can get different sizes depending where you want to put it. i got mine at petsmart. it will have a light that will blink if it has been touched during the night, so you know it your cat got a mild shock or not. good luck!

Aren't they darling little devils? And stubborn...never try to outstubborn a cat.

Here's a couple suggestions which MIGHT work, but there's nothing that will really stop a determined cat.

Put double-sided tape (or loops of tape, sticky side out) all over the table. (Throw down a plastic sheet if it's a good table, to protect the finish.) Use a LOT---masking tape might be your best bet, as it's cheap and the cat can pull loose (unlike duct tape, which might require a midnight rescue mission from you).

Some people swear by the pet repellent sprays you get in the petstores; others say they're worthless. Give it a try. DO NOT use ammonia on cloth and tie it up to deter the cat!!!--ammonia is what decomposing feces/urine produces in the catbox, remember?

High piles of things on the table (like book stacks) generally do NOT work. Kittydear will probably thank you for the nice gymnastic setup, or knock them over at 3 am. Sorry. (We've tried them, too.)

We never **could** break our little grey-and-white cat from looking out the living room window at our old apartment (she'd push back the blind slats, and eventually they broke on the edges). So, for privacy's sake, we just put 2 cuphooks, one on each side of the window, stretched a line between them, and hung a cloth on the cord as a "mini-curtain".

She'd push that aside and look out, but it fell back into place (leave plenty of slack!) and it covered the gap in the blinds. Not the greatest in terms of decor, but it worked for us.

Good luck! You'll need it.

Get some masking tape, make big loops by sticking the ends together and put some of those on the table. Cats really don't like sticky tape.

You could leave the blinds halfway up. Our indoor cats love their window perchs.

Ok, for your table do what the other people said, like spray it before you go to bed.But since she may get upset about the fact that she cant look out the window anymore, buy her a kitty post and stick it near the window, set her on top and start petting her and praising her show her that its ok to go on top of that. That way she can still look outside the window, with being stressed out.Good Luck, if my suggestion doesnt work i hope other peoples will.

Tin foil.

They HATE the sound it makes and the way it feels when they land on it. Put sheets of it all over the table for a few nights and when he lands on it, he'll freak, and will probably stop doing it because he hates the foil.

I tried those sprays - my wacky cats LOVED it. Some help it was.

I've used spray stuff (hey, that might help with my dog problem)- but you have to be careful table is not wet w/it since cat lick paws. All cats love to look out windows, so can you move the table? Perhaps smear it with sticky syrup some evening, but prepare for a mess - cats hate sticky!

Get a short small table, maybe a little cheap one at a thrift shop. Put it near a wall or corner away from but not too far from your table. Put a toy on the table, replacing it when it is moved and the cat isn't using it and you might train it to use that table, maybe to cool down on a flat surface.

Cats naturally want to be perched on high places to have a better view of things. They especially want to be able to see outside in the wild. If you don't want the cat on the table to see outside either buy or build the cat a perch he can climb up to sit on top of and see outside.

Oh come on! What's wrong with the cat looking out the window at night. I have a window shelf for my cats and only lower that blind half-way at night so they can go there and look out if they want to.

The house is dark when I go back to my bedroom and no one can see in the windows.

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM !! WIFE MOVED TWO OF OUR AUTO SPRAY AIR FRESHENERS FROM WAL-MARTS ONTO THE TABLE AND SET THEM FOR ODD TIMES, SO THAT ONE WAS SPRAYING ABOUT EVERY 15 MINUTES. THIS STOPPED IT,(THE SAME NIGHT), BUT AT THE END SHE STILL HAS TO KEEP ONE ON THE TABLE SET FOR EVERY 30 MIN. HOPE THIS HELPS. BILL & MARI
