Well everyone has told You that a feral cat is one that is born in the wild, outdoors. They have to fend for themselves, so they are very afraid of human contact, because usually it is not kind. We have three. One was hit by a car, My Wife paid to have Her operated on, so We brought Her inside. And two from a litter born outside that had to be trapped. They were mean and not happy. We put two leashes together and tied it to a old school desk where They could hide underneath it, and put food, water, and a litter box nearby. It took about a week. And now They are all Very loving. Seems like rescued Animals always are. So there is hope for Them. I have recently read where some Cities are doing a catch and release program, where the Cats are caught, spayed or neutered and released. Seems there is some benefit to having Them around, or They would not put forth the effort into doing this. You must always be very careful around feral Cats, it takes Them time to trust. A very long time. My Wife had one that She adored, but He would not let Her touch it. She left the front door slightly open with a shoe, and out of curiosity, He came inside. Once She shut the door it was like having a Tiger in the house. It jumped and threw itself against the windows. That was many years ago, and now They are good Friends.
Hope this helps

A feral cat is a cat which has been separated from domestication, whether through abandonment, loss, or running away, and becomes wild. The term also refers to descendants of such cats, but not to Wild Cats, whose ancestors were never domesticated. Adult feral cats that were born feral usually cannot be socialized. Adult feral cats that were born in a domestic environment and reverted to the feral state can sometimes be re-socialized. Feral kittens, however, can often be socialized to live with humans if they are taken from a feral colony before they are about twelve weeks old. About 10% of cats cannot be socialized at all due to genetic factors

A feral cat is a cat that lives and breeds in the wild or outdoors because they have no homes.
After many generations of being without human connection they are very much like any wild animal and difficult, if not impossible, to integrate into a human household. Kittens born to feral parents can be "tamed" and become good pets and they need to have the human contact between four to six weeks if the taming is to be successful.

I am not being critical of your spelling I am just letting you know that it's feral, not farrell, and it means wild. A cat that is too wild to be handled by humans.

Feral cats are cats that are not socialized to humans, or born wild. They are afraid of humans and will run from them until you get them to trust you. You can domesticate ferals however the older they are the longer time it will take to do so .

I believe Farrell is just another word for strays that have become wild and don't really like people.

It's spelled "feral"; they are domestic cats that have gone wild again. There are also feral goats, pigs, dogs, cows, horses... Basically, it just means that they live wild, though the species has been previously domesticated. Usually happens when strays live on their own for too long, reproduce, and are unwilling to be tamed again.

They are wild cats. I have one as a pet - they take some time but can adjust to home life quite well. If you have one, make sure you take it to the vet for its shots and checkup as they can carry diseases. Be weary of children around feral cats.
