I have two male cats, Rory and Emerald. They are constantly making out, humping each other and doing other inappropriate sexual activities. I thought it was out of sheer sexual desperation, but I was wrong. I have since brought a couple of female cats into my home, Alice and Trixie. Rory and Emerald growl and hiss at the females and continue to hump each other. Should I separate them?

Don't worry about separating them.....it's not like either one is going to get knocked up! Lol.
As far as "making out"....I believe that's called grooming each other.
And if the females are still new, the males just need time to get used to them.
Who knows, your two females might be lesbians. Then you'll have a big, happy, **** kitty family! (Please note my sarcasm).

i agree with that guy who got his source from a zoologist, that your Kitty's are NOT gay. and only humans can be. so, chill OK. you know how lucky you are to have kitty's that get along that well, my 2 female cat's use to always fight w/ each other, now they just go on about each others business, and never groom each other.(hoping they will soon.)And you shouldn't separate them, because, you will depress them. and you don't wanna do that right? it sounds like your kitty's really have a lot of affection for each other, but as just best friends only, that's it. you should go to a book store and buy a book that's nothing but about cat's then you'll understand their behavior little more. They are just being cats, stop giving them human attributes to their activities and let them be cats. Cats need a lot of attention.
