She is five years old, and we already have a male cat who is about 3. We cannot allow them to be in the same room at night, therefore, my new cat now sleeps in my room for the time being. Problem is, she's shedding like crazy and she's also very attention-starved and she kept me awake last night! If I keep her in a cage, she will cry. Are there any home-remedies that would help keep her off my bed?

I'm interested in the answer from a "personality type" perspective. Are artists more likely to own cats than other people? What about famous artists---have they owned cats more often than average?

The 5 month old 'Jezebel', as my husband calls her, is in heat. She is screeching all night long and trying to get her fixed brothers to 'service' her. She even seems to favor my husband's attention now. She was always pretty vocal, but this is RIDICULOUS! She won't shut up. She's getting fixed soon, but all of us are annoyed, even her brothers. How long does this last??? When will she stop being a "kitty of the night'?

Thanks!

I've gotten him three scratching posts and laced them with catnip. He only likes one of them, and if I move that one to my bedroom, he ignores it and goes for the bed. Every time I catch him clawing the bed I clap my hands loudly and he runs away. I think he thinks it's a game that's pretty fun, but I really need him to stop. If I lock him out of the bedroom, then he claws on the door! He's driving me bananas.

i've noticed that children between 6 and 15/16 years tend to be very cruel with animals,i'd like to know why that is and how can it be prevented.

We have just got a cat who is 4 and seems pretty happy apart from sometimes especially in the morning he will bite our hand or go for our ankles as we are walking, away from the kitchen. He does this to get food but he is being fed enough and is now getting a bit fat. Is he happy? Do we need to give him yet more food? What can we do to stop him biting?

Currently, I have two cats. Both of them were strays, one is about 4 months old, and the other about 1 month old. I've yet to determine the species of the cats simply because I don't know how. Any help given would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

I had my cat to the vets a couple days ago for coughing. He said hairballs don't make them cough--and gave her an exam saying everything was ok--and advised in changing her litter because of the dust. He told me to get arm and hamer--but I think the baking soda is just as dusty-he says it's not the same. She's still coughing on and on--seems to be while she's sleeping and sometimes after she eats--but it's not a cold-cough--more like somethings stuck in her throat. Any ideas?

I recently moved in with my boyfriend who has a cat. The problem is that the cat has always been able to sleep on his bed in the past. But I seem to have a somewhat mild alergy to the cat. During the day I have no problem with the cat at all... but at night with the cat on the bed my eyes swell and i cough all night long. I dont think it is necessary to keep the cat out of the room all together and close the bedroom door... but if I could just keep her off of the bed without limiting all of the freedom she has always had in the house it would be very helpful. I have never had a cat before so I really dont know much about them. I would appreciate any help anyone could give.

We adopted our first cat in April. He was a beautiful black cat and my whole family fell in love with him. He did very well for a few months but then started showing strange symptoms like not being able to control his leg muscles, falling over. He was put to sleep and the vet said it was a high probability that he had FIV. So we were all very upset. We got another kitten in July after he died. The cat seems to be doing well but I'm so paranoid of losing another one. This one is healthy, just like our other seemed to be, but I'm concerned about a few things. His mother was a stray and he was abandoned with his umbilical cord and sack still attached to him. When I got him he had a cold and was treated successfully. He always has a bit of boogers in his nose, black like lint. a tiny bit. I posted another question and ppl have me completely paranoid that he could have leukemia. How can I calm myself down. Can my luck really be this bad with cats.I'll be devastated to lose another

My 3 month old seems to be very healthy and very happy. Everyday though I seem to have to pick black fuzz-like boogers out of his nose. He gets a little bit in his eyes also, just like sleep-eye but it is dark. There's no eye drainage though, like he is sick, just a little bit of ****. The boogers in his nose seem to me to be like lint, Do you think he's picking this up from somewhere or is this coming from his body. I hope it's normal, never been a cat owner. And YES he is going to the vet in a couple weeks to get fixed so I will mention it there, just thought I'd talk with y'all first since I'm a new cat person

Do cats and dogs dream?

My son just bought a house. The people who lived there before had 5 dogs and a cat. How do I clean the house so that it doesn't bother my son's allergies? I have taken up the carpet in one bedroom and have tried to clean with pine type products including in between the tiles in the living room. The kitchen has a raised wood floor. We also air out the house, leaving all doors and windows open with the ceiling fans running on high for about 8 hours a day and have done this for 5 days so far. The air is much better (though not good enough) while everything is open but goes back to smelling not so good when we first come in after having the house closed up. What should I do?

Thanks so much.

My cat is 3 months old and very tall and lean. He is a big eater and seems healthy. I thought he was a normal size but when my mother recently came to visit she said he seems really skinny. I can feel his ribs a bit and his hip bones are easily felt. Is this just cause he's young or should I worry? I volunteer at the humane society and the cats there all seem fat to me. is this how he should be?

I have a kitten that I think is around 3 months old and the vet won't fix him until he is 4 months. I am getting very nervous about him starting to spray because he seems like a very big cat and I'm thinking he may be older than they have said. What causes cats to stop spraying and what can I do to prevent it until I can get him into the vet to be neutered.
