If your cat goes outside, at this time of year it could well be harvest mites. If it is use Drontal, a spray, obtainable from your vet, shouldl fix it. Some cats are allergic to harvest mites tho' and the spray gets rid of the mites but not the allergy. If after spraying the cat continues to scratch it will need an antibiotic injection from the vet
Hope this helps

Go to the vet for medication. Could be allergies also. If mites, they'll also have the proper stuff to get rid of them off cats and also out of the carpet.

Get the cat checked at the vets to find the cause - could be anything from fleas to emotional stress. If it is fleas or mites they can easily be treated with stuff for both cat and house - good luck.

Get rid of your carpet and put down a good quality wooden or laminate flooring. It may be expensive but it will rid you of carpet mites permanently and its easier to clean. So I guess its kind of like an investment for the well being of both your pet and you.

Your cat could have fleas. They are very small & black you can see them if you push the hair back with you finger. If this is the case you can purchase a carpet insecticide it comes in powder form from Hartz, green container like rug deodorizer. Then give the cat a flea bath.
He/she may also have a skin infection you should have it checked by a vet just to be sure.

nix on the carpet mites; its fleas. Get FRontline from your vet, and ask him for a big can of spray to do floors, drapes and soft furnishings- its no good getting rid on the fleas on the cats, and leaving them in the furniture! Good luck; it really does work!

Hi,

It's only fleas... don't panic...
Buy a flea comb, some flea shampoo, and pet flea dust...
1-2-3... The flea dust on your cats should also kill the carpet ones as well... and vacum regularly to keep them from comming back....

Good hunt... and Good Luck!
