The indoor cat will probably become very curious and want to smell the outdoor cat each time she comes in. It is very possible that she is going to want to go outside with the other cat. Try keeping the indoor cat away from the doors and don't take her out even it is just in your arms. I had this same thing happen, once the indoor cat got a taste for the outside she became and outdoor cat.

It can certainly cause some issues and the indoor cat may bug you unmercifully to be let outside. You just have to be very firm about it.

Of course for safety reasons I would be inclined to make the outdoor cat be an indoor cat. Of course that is your decision. Either way you will have a problem enforcing what you want for the cats so why not work with the outdoor one to stay in?

I have had my indoor cat since she was a kitten 7 years ago. Every day she is asking to go out and play with the outdoor cats. Sometimes I let her out if I am going to be there to watch her. The outdoor cats don't like her though and won't play with her.

I am not sure, but do make certain you know the dangers of an outdoors cat (cars, neighbours with guns, whatever).

My host family in the USA were very upset when their indoors/outdoors Maine **** was run over by a car after 7 or so years of happy life. You can imagine...

Regardless of how well you may take care of your animals...outdoor animals are exposed to numerous viruses and diseases. Your biggest concern should be what kind of bug is he going to bring home to your indoor cat. This is very serious because the particualr diseases cannot be prevented or immunized against. Your only protection is to keep cats indoor and not exposed to outdoor cats. Since one of them is outdoors.....they are both being exposed now. It is VERY common to pick up FIP, Feleuk, FIV.......in this manner. There are no cure for these things...and they will kill your cat as surely as a car. You are courting disaster by allowing cats outdoors.

If the indoor cat hasn't shown any interest in going outside yet then in all likelihood there won't be a problem. My sister has three inside cats and two inside outside cats and the three have no interest in going out.

They should be fine as long as the indoor cat does not feel threatened by the new addition.

You should take your cat outside on a leash(sounds kind of funny, but true). If he/she doesent see anything that intrests them, then take them back inside but if the cat wants to explore, let it explore. It's a new experience for the cat. I have three cats myself. I should know
