If i put him in a different room he makes even MORE noise by scratching at the door and crying to come in the bedroom with me.

Hide your toes and face under the covers. Don't let anything hang out. Do NOT get up or pick him up or talk to him or yeall at him. His clock is messed up and you HAVE to get him on a normal schedule. nPlaying with him during the day is good....but he is thinking nighttime is acceptable play time. You must train him by not giving him ANY stimulus or attention. Even if that m your means completely ignoring him and hiding under your covers. When you wake in the morning give LOTS of loves...he must be taught day/play....night/sleep tight. Sometimes it takes WEEKS to train a kitten to not act like a nuerotic nocturnal freak.

Ignore him. By playing with him when he wakes you up, you encourage him. It's unpleasant, but if he doesn't let you ignore him (like, attack your feet), get up and walk out of the room and close the door from the other side. And however much noise he makes, don't come back in until he has settled (might mean a nap on the sofa... ). Otherwise, the strategy of keeping him up during the day is good, but three days is just too short to have effect on a hyperactive youngster. Play with him as you do, too.

Oh, and if he bites you, before you walk out, hiss at him. If it hurts, yell in pain. Sharp noises startle cats and they dislike them; it will be good for him to learn not to hurt you.

Just like taking care of a kid.. It just has it's days and nights messed up.. since it don't work putting it in another room. Paddle it's little butt and lay it on the pillow beside you and make it stay there . talk to it like you would a kid they understand.. Mine sleep with me every night and used to do the same thing.. spanking it did the trick and putting it in the same spot when you do makes it know that it has done something wrong and pretty soon it will go there and sleep through the night with you.. but if you move around alot at night it will think it is time to get up.. don't let it bite your feet.. besides being pain full it is very rude awakening. and you may hurt it by kicking before you think.
good luck hope you get some sleep soon.

sleep deprivation is not the right thing to do. all cats sleep about 20 hours a day. He is a kitten, they are active and young...adult cats do this too.
Try going to a pet store and getting him some toys that hang from the top of the door or are tied to the back of a chair so it cant bat them under the furniture. It will be playing with those instead of you.
Avoid catnip filled toys...your kitten doesnt need catnip...thats usually for older, lethargic cats.

I've had the same problem with every cat I've ever had. The only thing that really worked was to ignore them- unless they do something that hurts. Then yes, a sharp hiss or yell is very much in order.

Eventually, the cat will learn to leave you alone when you're trying to sleep. If he gets too rambunctious, then yes, put him in a kennel of some sort.

Good luck!

I have the same probelm ,except my cat is 1 1/2 yr old and since I had him from 4mths he does not let me sleep , mine licks me all night long and plops himself on my pillow, purring and kissing me , and goes from one side to another , I love him to death but I have not had a complete night's sleep since I got him. I play with him when I come home from work nothing seems to help. I guess some cats are like that . Good Luck !

Sleepless nights .

my cat is now 8 years old....when he was little he used to do the same thing as your kitten is doing to you. I used to put a heating pad turned on low with a towl over it next to me in bed and then pick my cat up after the pad got warm and put him on it. He really liked it and 9 times out of 10 he would relax from being warm and cuddled that he would sleep.

What a good kittie you have! He is such fun and playful, but you want to get some z-z-z-z-s. LOL. You may have to get him a play cage. That's a fairly big cage that has a catnip mousie in it and some dangling toys and a nice bed to curl up in. That way you may hear a little playing but he will not reach your bed. As he gets older, he will slow down. Love your kitten!

Try letting him have run of the house at night, and close your bedroom door. Make sure he has plenty of toys and things to keep him occupied. Cats are nocturnal by nature, but it will get better as he gets older. Other suggestion - get him a playmate, and then they can keep each other up all night - that is what I ended up doing

You can try feeding him at night with dry cat food mixed with kitten can/wet food, if he's old enough to eat, which it sounds like he is. Let him wander all over your house at night playing except for your room, try leaving the t.v. on for him so he hears noises and doesn't mind playing alone.
