My husbands grandmother has an outdoor cat who is about 5 years old. She was strictly and outdoor cat, along with another cat. We got the other cat, Birdie, used to coming in and out as he pleased, but he a racoon killed him. So now me and my husband are trying to get the five year old cat, Mommy cat, to stay in the house because it is getting really hot outside, and there is a stray dog that likes to jump over our fence and chase her. Is there any suggestions that anyone can give me to help her adjust better, and feel better about staying inside from now on? Ne help would be greatly appreciated. I really do not want her to go outside any more. I am so afraid that something will happen to her.

*Keep in mind, i'm not judging anyone. This is just a question.*
~Scenario~
Allowing your animal (more specifically a cat) to roam free outside without a leash/harness, (to keep it within the yard). Should this be considered a form of animal cruelty/endangerment???

Keeping in mind the risks of being hit by a car, being hurt/killed by another animal, pesticides/chemicals on lawns, driveways & in pools/ponds etc, possibly picking up a disease (which could result in huge vet bills or euthanasia) Or simply getting lost and never returning home (it does happen).

Should this be considered animal cruelty???
Please give your answer as detailed as possible.......I know where i stand on this subject, I just want to see if others feel the same as I do!!!

****Again, please keep in mind that i am in no way judging anyone.....this is just a question****

My neighbor recently took in a stray kitten. I would place it at being maybe 4 weeks old but I'm not very sure. She has been "crying" alot and I can hear her from our house, but she is VERY friendly!!! When we come outside she runs over to our house to be petted and then will begin climbing on things that are on our porch. I'm worried that she was too young to be away from her mother but I know our neighbor won't take her to the vet unless something is visibly wrong with her. They say she can eat hard food but . I wasn't sure if the "crying" was over missing her litter mates/mother or if it could be something else.

Is six weeks soo early that it could tramatize the cat into being mean? I think that is what happened to my cat.

I have an inside cat and we are moving to a new apartment. It has to little patios and alot more room for her to run around. My mom has a large screened in deck that she just loves!

I doubt the apartment complex would allow me to screen in a patio. Is there a technology or some sort of screen that can be put up without nailing anything pernamently?

For the past couple of days all she does is sleep. Do you think this is because she is not nuetered yet? Has anyone had this problem.

he was a kitten when he first came home and he liked being held for long periods of time until he got about a year old and now he will still let you pick him up but only let you hold him for like 2 minutes.
