Cats - June 2006

I found a dead kitten in my garage this morning. Probably about 6 weeks old. It contained one puncture would up close to its shoulder blade. It isn't ours. I have a tom cat that is a very aggressive hunter. We live in the country and he is a totally outdoor cat. I have seen it catch a rabbit as big as him. I just wanted to know if this cat could have killed this kitten. I am expecting a litter of kittens any day and don't want him to kill them. We have several cats and have had kittens and I have never seen him do harm but I have no idea what has gotten this kitten or what happened.

After following Yahoo answers to: How do you introduce two male cats? My follow up question is how do you make the alpha cat stop pestering his new house mate? we have tried seperating them for short periods (putting the offender in time out) and even a squirt gun, but so far the alpha persists in chasing and stalking. It looks playful, but the one cat keeps hiding out in a bathroom until the other cat is otherwise occupied. So far there hasnt been any biting or bloodshed, but there has been some hissing by the beta cat and he wants to stay in his bathroom. I want to remove the food, litter etc from my master bathroom so that we can begin to live a little more normally. They are very sweet cats but I want them to have equal share of their new home. Any suggestions would be greatly appreceated...

Our cats are the sweetest ever, but when we get them wet, they turn to Satan Kitties! Why is this?

sometimes when i feed my cat wet food he'll stand next to his food bowl and scratchs the floor with one paw like he does when he's at his litter box not only that but then he refuses to eat the food after meowing for it.

One of my cats hates the other two cats in our home. With humans, she is very loving and affectionate, but tries to beat the crap out of the other cats. Why is this? Is their anything I can do to help my cat get along with the other cats?

Beside leash laws I mean. Would all the "let the cat be an outdoor cat" people let their dogs do the same thing if they could? Seems driver's would notice dogs more and dogs could defend themselves against dangerous animals better. Is it that people care about dogs more or that cat's are smarter? In case you missed it I did say beside the law lol.

I had a wierd experience the other day when brushing my long-hair cat, He didn't like it and meowed his complaint. I need to brush him almost daily because he sheds like crazy and he used to have a hairball problem. I spoke authoritatively to him and he looked me straight in the eyes and would not avert his gaze for more than 30 seconds. I know that, with animals, the first one to avert his eyes is the one who loses control. I remained locked in this gaze until I finally said something like, "what is your problem?". At that point he looked away and allowed me to continue brushing for a few seconds before he squirmed out of my arms. The thing is, looking into his eyes, I sensed meanness that I never noticed before. Also, if he gets out of the house and confronts another cat, he is wildly aggessive. Under normal circumstances he appears sweet and aloof. Any other cat owners have similar stories? What is your take on mine?

Why do cats purr, not roar?

Ok so my friend's husband has abused her cat a few times, and is now "scaring the cat for kicks". He has never shown any other signs of abuse toward people, kids, or even other animals for that matter. In fact he has a dog that he adores.

My friend loves her cat more than most people love their animals, ie... she's always talking about the cat, the cat comes first before things most people wouldn't put before animals. Although she has never put the cat before her husband.

Should she be scared? I always read that people who harm animals have deep psychological problems. Should she separate from him - he keeps saying he'll stop, but he continues to do it, than will lie to her about it. She finds out bc of her cat's behavior - acting finicky and scared.

Also any ideas why he has this sort of behavior. He had a healthy home life growing up. Maybe he's just jealous of the cat?

What are your thoughts?

I have treated my female with medicine and natural medicine, but it won't go away for good. I want to be able to cure her problem, not just "fix it for now".
Any help would be appreciated as to what might work!
Thanks.

And the Faucet only.
We put bowls of fresh water out every day and he won't go near it. He'll meow and run to the bathroom, jump on the sink and stares at us until we turn on the faucet, after which he drinks until he gets his fill. It was entertaining, but this is like 4 times a day or more.
Anyone else experience this before?
