We don't like cats and we are a little afraid, he may run in the door when we open it. HELP!!

1. Buy a shotgun
2. Buy some shells
3. Put a dish of catfood on your porch
4. Hide behind the curtain of an open window
5. Any cat that comes within 5 feet of your door is fair game, so blow it to kingdom come...
Cruel? Maybe, but think of the diseases feral cats carry, do you really want your loved ones exposed to that? Plus it's black! You're probably saving lives by killing it....

Are you new to the house? maybe he/she was abandoned from the past owner/tenants. Are you sure the cat is "trying" to get in your house. You might just be against black cats from TV or books. They are not evil. Just like any other cat. Spray bottle filled with water should do the trick.

your not prejudice toward black cats are you? because they're just like all the other domestics (no reason to be afraid)
if it does come near then use a spray bottle and squirt it and it'll run away and probably not come back (they don't like water)

Well don't open the door when he is around first of all. Second call the ASPCA. They have people who will trap strays and bring them to the animal shelter. Oh and you don't have to be afraid. Unless he has rabies you're fine.

You can borrow a humane trap from the SPCA, or rescue groups in your area, put food in it and trap the cat. Take it to the rescue group you borrowed the trap from. If you don't want to do that use the hose and squirt the cat whenever you see it.

Put a bowl out with some anit-freeze in it. They are attracted to the sweet smell and will drink it.
That cat wont be bothering anybody after that.

Catch the cat in a box (make sure it has holes in it) and take it to the humane socicety. They can see if it has a microchip and send it back to his owners, or put the cat up for adoption.

lots of things, most of them would get you in trouble with the animal rights groups. But ive used a squirt gun loaded with watered down lemon juice. That seems to get rid of the kittys for me.

cats don't hurt anybody and do kill mice and rats - you're probably better off that he's outside doing that. leave some water outdoors, then he won't try to get in.

Buy a spray bottle and fill it with water and spray the little bugger... cats hate water!
