set a live trap then when you catch it put it back out side, or set a rat trap to kill it. You can find the traps at a local hardware store!

If you try to catch it by hand you might get bitten. Rabies injections are NOT fun. Try this. Get a medium sized box, about 2 foot wide and deep. put a spoonful of peanut butter in the box. placxe the box in the middle of the floor. Pull the shades to darken the room a little then watch from another room. When the rat get's hungry it'll go for the peanut butter. While it's in the box run up to the box, tip it up and close the flaps quickly. Then take the box outside and dump it out. Do this far from your house cuz the rat will come back if you let it loose within sight of your house.

The stores have those new "glue-boards" now. Those are for catching mice and rats. You just put the "glue-board" down next to a wall or somewhere where the rat will run along ....... and maybe fasten it down with a nail or two ...... and it will catch the rat.
But you have to be careful if you have housepets, or elderly people around, because it might catch them too. (If they step on it, then they will get gooey-feet.)

Set your cat loose on it....He brought it in, make him catch it and get it out...
I wouldn't let him eat it because rats could carry disease..

Put on a glove. Pick it up by the tail and put it out side, consult a professional about how to train your cat to keep it out. OH and don't forget to wash your hands!

You say, "BAD KITTY! TAKE THAT RAT BACK OUTSIDE WHERE IT BELONGS!"
This is one reason that I don't have a cat.
