No. Cats will let you know when they are not happy, and usually it is something very unpleasant. If you cat wants attention, he/she will make sure you give it to them. However, it is very easy to pay attention to the cat but not really. If you are sitting on the phone or on the computer, you can absently pet it while you are waiting for screens to change or talking away on the phone. Just plop the little one on your lap for a minute or two, pet him/her for a bit, then let him/her go on her/his merry way. Playing is not a requirement but can also be done easily by just having a length of string dangling from your toe in the same situations I gave above. You are still playing with your cat while doing the other things you like at the same time. Hope this helps!!

Cats are perfectly capable of entertaining themselves; however, they need interaction with their owners. If you don't play with your cat, get some toys that the cat can use by itself, like balls, feather toys, catnip toys, etc. Even if you don't play with your cat every day, you should at least pet it. A cat needs love more than anything else, and the way you let a cat know it's loved is to spend time with it, even if it's just a three-second scratch behind the ear.

not at all. cats are very independant creatures, dogs need far more attention. As long as a cat has a nice place to sleep and regular meals they are fairly happy. It's nice to leave them some things to play with own their own, a catscratcher and little toys to chase (marbles are great fun for cats on a tiled or wooden floor). Spray their toys with cat nip and this makes them very happy. Of course a cuddle or pat on the head is nice sometimes but as long as their basic needs are met they are generally very content.

I think its horrible becoz, cats are sensitive.. They always needs attention from their owner.. How would your cat have fun during the day without you. Cats needs entertainment, if u dont play with him/her she would find other way to entertain his/her self.. It is safer if u make sure u played him/her once a day because he/she might use ur other things in the house as his/her toy and of course u might get mad if he/she used the most valuable thing of yours as his/her toy..

I am terribly sorry to interrupt a thread but in your answer to "Would you eat your dog?" you said contact you in one of your questions. Regarding the way people treat animals in foreign country's I have seen some of this video as well. Truly sickening to see where the fur on our coats and for our gloves comes from isn't it? They don't even kill these poor dogs before they begin to skin them alive. People sicken me. If you wish to contact me you can from my profile.
Thank you and again very sorry to all for hijacking a thread.

No, it doesn't really matter. I work for a cat adoption agency and sometimes I'm just so rushed, i can't even pet them!
