My lovebird is laying infirtile eggs once in a while and I have been thinking of this as her way of communicating with me, so I have been considering a mate for her but want to make sure that it is ok to get her a mate, or if getting her a mate will mean she will attack it.

Are they too skiddish, or will they scare too easily? Just wondering.

As the train pulled out of the station the pigeons started to fly around wildly. It was terrifying, I am not normally afraid of birds but it was very scary. Would you have been frightened? Lots of passengers were screaming.

We have 2 African Greys, one for sure is male (tetsed) the other one we believe is a female, because she feeds him like a baby. Thats the only way he can really eat with her around. They are in the same cage, and the male is missing a significant amount of feathers. It is in areas where it could be self plucking, or her ripping them out, we have seen it happen. I heard plucking can happen because of boredom too.... I know alot of you are going to say seperate them, but I dont think we can afford another cage, and they make such a mess!!! The pull the paper up through the grate and rip it. They also dont talk as much as I thought they would, especially when people are around, but they are constantly around people (1 work at home mom and 3 homeschooled kids) And ideas? Sorry for so many questions.

I have two parakeets, and one of them is the friendliest one in the world, you give him coconut pieces, and he'll take them from you, he'll let you pet him and everything. The other one is afraid of his shadow. You just move your hand in his general direction and he'll go crazy. Is there anything I can do to make the scardey cat one behave more like his friend?

I am wanting to get a bird for my son, I am pretty sure I want a parakeet, I had a few when I was little and I think it should be a good pet for him. What is a good price for one? Where is the best place to buy one? Are there any other birds that might make a better pet for a little boy. He will not be taking care of it, he is two and just likes to look at the birds and listen to them at the pet store and the park. Thanks!

i have two cockateils honey and cheeko. honey is a lovley bird who will just fly around and sit on her cage and let u touch her and walks on your hand to be put in her cage. cheeko is different bird all together. he hiss at u and wont go back into the cage. so i went to the vet to get his wings clipped he said i would do one wing and said he wouldnt be able to fly let him out to day and he went and started flying around the room. im abit confussed as to why he is still flying. i dont know what to do with cheeko he will not let you close we have to bring the cage to him and use his ladder to give him a gentle push into his cage if you try to get him into the cage with your hands he bites u which hurts. i have my birds in different cages but side to side and when i cover them at night i make sure they are push together and one cover is place over them so they can see each other. i am thinking maybe having two is not a great idea. i am thinking of moving cheeko into a different room

I'm thinking about raising quail in buffalo NY but i think it's to cold to keep them out side and possibly releasing them. Yet i don't think there is a type of quail that is native in this area. Maybe peasant or another kind of bird would be better?

We just got a cockatiel 2 months ago. I bought a book on their care but it didn't say anything about her laying eggs.
She's been laying them off and on for about a month and we've been removing them as she lays them. I just read that I should leave them in there, so now what do I do? She's laid 7-8 so far. She has a 'pineapple' treat, like a cuttle bone type thing and we feed her fruit and vegetables.
Is there anything else I should be doing? She won't have anything to do with regular cuttlebones.
Also, we have 2 male parakeets that are in the same room, different cage. Could the males being close to her be affecting her reproductive cycle?
