My lovebird is laying infirtile eggs once in a while and I have been thinking of this as her way of communicating with me, so I have been considering a mate for her but want to make sure that it is ok to get her a mate, or if getting her a mate will mean she will attack it.

If your lovebird is laying infertile eggs, that is her way of communicating with you that she needs some changes in her environment.

Make sure she is getting enough calcium. Use a cuttlebone, mineral block or supplements.

She needs 12 hours of dark quiet time every night. Make sure she is in an out-of-the way place or sleeping cage during this time where she won't be disturbed.

Give her some new toys. Make sure you rotate the toys regularly to keep her interested. If she's busy playing with toys, she won't be laying eggs.

try buying her a mate that is from the same family, for example if the bird is blue most likely u should buy a lovebird that is blue because birds are pretty resist i have had experience they always attack birds that do not match or look like them.

It's not a question of her attacking it. That won't happen, believe me. What you need to do, though, is post her picture on the web, and an e-mail address for her, if not a phone number. If she's not a real doggeroo, I might just be interested.

Yes you can, if you want to breed them since they are able to have offspring from the first year.
