I'm thinking about raising quail in buffalo NY but i think it's to cold to keep them out side and possibly releasing them. Yet i don't think there is a type of quail that is native in this area. Maybe peasant or another kind of bird would be better?

I live in Western New York too, and people have tried quail here but they don't do well because of our climate. They'll survive in captivity, but not as well as in other places. And they don't last a year if released.
Ringneck Pheasants are much more common in this area, they're alot more hardy than quail and they're natural to this area.

Although it's claimed to be endangered here in Ontario, the Bob whites are all over my place, 30 miles north of Toronto. Scare the hell out of me sometimes.

The bob white will. Go to this site for more information. http://www.qu.org/quail_hunting_forecast/state_forecast.cfm?state=New%20York

Do you want to release them to be hunted and killed?
