Great answeres, but not one mentioned a stroke.

Birds have them also. But as alot of people have suggested keep him in a quiet warm tempatured place, (if he gets cold put a lamp on one part of the cage; not to close and no more then a 50W.) with lots of food and water, and most important clean cage.

hope these answers help and it's not to late, unfortunately birds and fish get sick and die very quickly.

Something no one mentioned for limping is metabolic bone disease. A calcium deficiency.
What is his normal diet? Many people don't realize that parakeet seed isn't enough. All birds need fresh fruits and veggies plus a mineral block in their cages. Do you feed him broccoli? That's high in calcium. Grit usually has minerals in it also.
Head bobbing can also mean parasites. Do you have a mite tin on the side of his cage?
If he's bored he may also bob his head, but pacing usually goes with that.
Examine every possibility everyone has suggested and rule each one out. Then call the vet for advice. The sooner the better. And do put a light on him.
All bird owners should keep Ornacyn Plus on hand. Whenever a bird starts shaking, it doesn't hurt to put some in the water to eliminate any germ it has picked up. Birds die quickly when symptoms appear because they hide them until it's too late.

hmm- how long have you had him? i wouldn't be too worried about the head bobbing, but i would be about the limping. do you have a variety of perches in the cage? if you have the sandpaper ones, get rid of them Parakeets can develop "bumblefoot" which is an inflammation of the sole of the foot. Look at it too see if it is red or swollen. if it's bad he may need antibiotics, might not. They can also develop articular gout, associated with the kidneys, but affects the lower legs. check to see if his legs are shiny with some swelling- that would be a symptom. there is no cure for gout, but you can treat it. Does your bird have labored breathing, stay fluffed up like a pinecone, change in droppings, or stopped making noises? those are all common signs of budgie illness. if you have a smaller cage, put him in with a blanket over it, and put a warming bulb near him. If you can't take him to a vet, maybe the pet store you got him at can help you out.

In my journey, parakeets do extra effective in even numbers with an equivalent male to lady ratio so as that they can variety pairs. in case you realize your parakeets gender, try purely getting between the alternative gender. objective for comparable length and age if in any respect achieveable. And confident, in case you probably did no longer improve the cage, the unique parakeet would experience that his area is being intruded upon. Get a clean, bigger cage, and introduce the recent and unique parakeet to it on a similar time. there could be some bickering in the beginning up, yet until eventually there is definitely harm being completed, enable them to establish themselves until eventually now you do something. although, if absolutely everyone seems to be being fairly aggressive and harming the different, separate them right this moment.

Put him in a quiet place...cover up the cage partly with a towel and on the other side shine a warm lamp (a desk lamp will do put it approx 5" away from the cage...this will keep him calm and warm...keep him away from drafts if he doesnt improve in a couple of days then it could be something serious :(

the head bobbing is a good reaction. it means he is happy! :)

but the limping.... i'm not sure. parakeets stand on one foot to rest the other one, if that's what happens. otherwise, i don't know. that hasn't ever happened to my parakeet. good luck with him.

Well, the last time my brid started shaking he had a cold.

If so, without medication it will probably die.
Call a cab or get someone you're related to or a friend and take him to thte vet.

You can make a phone call, perhaps to a local vet place and they can put you intouch with a bird lover!! or check out your local paper for bird ads, anyone who has a bird will be happy to help you.

good luck

Keep him in a warm place. Give him fresh water and food. Keep him in a quiet place where there is no disturbance. Keep him in a humid place.
Clean up the cage bottom and keep it away from any other budgie or bird.
