My son names our bird based on appearance. We have a green bird named Zucchini, white Lily, blue and white Ocean, etc.

We name our birds after our favorite singers.
Our cocatiels are Shania and Billy. The love bird is Queenie and My parakeet is Cher. Our Sonny died :(
We use to have finches which were named after the Beatles.

I named my bird Ike. Pocko is a good name I think that is what I will name my next one.

it is a proven fact that birds bearing onomatopoeic names tend to speak faster and sing better. Or, they say, a name with sibilant sounds such as SHelly, CHubby or etc, is easier to remember and birds can say it much more easily.
