I just got a peach faced lovebird and I need to know if they need grit or gravel to diguest there seads?

No Psittacidae bird needs a grit source to digest food, it has been known for them to use it in the grinding process, but actual ingestion does not happen, it is a good idea to provide it on the cage floor because it help with keeping the claws from getting too long as do sand paper perches for the claws and beak.

I raised blue black masked love birds for a number of years and I usually provided them with some oyster shell, for calcuim, but as far as gravel and grit is concerned I never gave them that and they seemed fine and healthy to me.

Any bird that hulls(takes the shell off) it own seeds does not need grit. Birds that eat seed whole need grit, they use this because they have no teeth.

I've always had it in all my bird cages, if they don't want it they won't eat it. but It's a good idea for any bird, and don't forget the coddle bone.
