We have a Hoot Owl in our tree. How much do they weigh and how tall are they. If our outdoor cat Jaden is in our yard will the owl swoop down and try and catch Jaden. If so will it kill Jaden. We want to know so we know if we have to try and get Jaden in the house at night or if we can continue without worriying

Jaden is about the size of a normal cat. He is 11 months old and isn't one of those giant Fat cats.

And Jaden would be inside all the time if he would but we fount him, he was abandoned and we think he is afraid of not seeing the sky.

Size: Length 40-63 cm (16-25 inches) Wingspan 96-125 cm (38-50 inches)
Weight: 500-1050 grams (17.5-37 oz) (average male 617g, average female 779g)

They have been known to eat young rabbits and opossums which are about the same size as a cat. I would keep your cat inside during the night (but owls sometimes hunt just before nightfall as well). You could try to get rid of the owl. I recommend calling animal control if you are really worried.

What is a Hoot Owl? Do you mean a Great-Horned Owl?? It may swoop down on your cat if it feels threatened by it. Definitely if it was nesting time, it would probably do some pretty good damage to your cat. If your cat is full grown, do not think the owl would be strong enough to lift him off the ground, but they would probably lift a kitten. Owls are going to be going after much smaller prey, mice, rats, voles, etc. rather than full grown cats. But, it would probably be safer to put your cat in a night when the owls are out and about hunting.

How big is Jaden? When you say Hoot Owl, I'm guessing you mean one of the larger owls. If so, their weight starts about 500 grams, but they are very strong. They can carry much heavier animals due to their wing strength.
I've actually seen hawks pick up kittens. I've seen pictures of Owls killing rabbits.

They hunt at night, so it wouldn't hurt to bring Jaden in for the night. Better safe than sorry.

If its a Great Horned Owl, it could take a cat. They are powerful predators, the only thing that will kill a skunk. So keep her inside.

To be honest, she would be better off inside all the time. Inside cats live much longer healthier lives.
