I breed sun conure succesfully. I have 4 proven pairs (6- 15years old ) and a few young birds. I take the babies at about 4 weeks and handraise for sale. Tomorrow I will be taking babies out. Tomorrow I will also take blood to send away for sexing and testing. The babies already have rings on. I have had clutches that have failed to hatch, I think the eggs got baked. In South Africa the summer temperature gets very high and I think the eggs got too hot. Another time I lost a clutch of 3 babies, they seemed a bit deformed I think the added calcium was too high. I have since removed the extra calcium and only rarely give. I have not had any more problems. Parents with babies are given soft porridge in addition to the normal , cooked maize and legumes (a standard parrot cooking mix), extruded feed, basically this is crushed pellets, a little sunflower, nuts, fruit & veggies. Spirulina, vitamins, minerals is added to the mix. - sometimes calcium too. I am always carefull when I walk in the aviary to let the birds know I am there so that they dont break the eggs. I also knock on the nest box before opening as this also scares them if i just open the box. I dont want broken eggs or hurt babies.

I have pet suns and budgies loose in my home. Mosltly I have to watch what the suns are doing because they can wreck anything. Sometimes when the days are good, I turn all the inside birds loose in an outdoor aviary so they can have a big place to play and get some sun. The pet suns love car trips too.
they actually want to go out the door anytime and they so quick to jump on a shoulder for a lift. I dont know how they know that we about to go out the door, but suddenly a passenger to go with.

A colony of budgies that breeds. These budgies eat the same feed as the conures & ringnecks except they have millet instead of sunflower and I cut the veggies and fruit smaller. They are not as fond of nuts as the others, but I do crush peanuts for them sometimes.

Indian ringnecks that I am trying to breed but the males went in after the females so the female are too bossy to breed. I must build more aviaries to take the males out and afterwards add the females to the males. The females I have had a long time. When the ring did not appear I went to the vet for surgical testing and found I had 2 females.

I want to get myself probably a ducorps, goffin or umbrella cockatoo as a pet. A cant afford to buy any more pairs at the moment, unless I get babies and wait again for them to grow.
This time make sure I have 2 different sex instead of waiting years for nothing to happen.

I am not sure what you want to know the question is a bit open and big.

Hey, sound like you have some neat birds. I have a female yellow crowned amazon. She is great. She is 5 months old. I got her from the breeder about 2 months and she has been a great addition to my family. She is the second amazon I've owned. Sadly my previous bird was my current birds older brother and died about 8 months ago. One of the kids left the bird outside and we believe a wild animal killed him. So you have to be care-full. We just went on a family vacation and was able to take the bird us. She behaved great and rode on my shoulder for the entire duration of the trip(8 hours). She is really good about holding herself until the potty break about once an hour. She seemed to love riding in the car and chattered at times and other times she seemed just to enjoy the scenery.

Enjoy your birds

Dont disturb them, this might be the problem. Do you have all four birds in one cage? You should keep the breeding pair in one cage and all the other in a different cage.

I expereinced a lot of things. Sometimes one of my pairs just throw out the baby,or sometimes the male will attack the babies. It happens... The eggs sometimes may crack by mistake.

Before you let your birds lay another clutch, I strongly advise that you learn more about birdkeeping and breeding. Do you know how to handfeed? You'll need to get your vet or an experienced breeder to show you. Make sure you do all your research so you can have happy, healthy birds!

We have cockatiels. We lost one female last year when we didn't know she was going to lay eggs and they got stuck inside of her. It was very sad. We were not educated on cockatiels much then, so I am always trying to learn more!!
