My Quaker parrot has a knot on the side of her head up under her ear!!What the heck is it?????

froggie is right. Infections in birds appear as cysts. Once it gets hard it can be removed with no danger to the bird. If it is not hard and you try to remove it, you can cause the bird serious harm.

Most likely an infection or a tumor. The best treatment for a bird is an avian vet. Infections are treatable.
