I live in southern california in orange county and all i really buy fish from is petco and california pets. the california pets are to expensive and the petco always die.

my turtle tank is 3 feet[base]* 1feet[width]*1 and a half feet[height]...how do i measure its capacity...and simple way?...how will icome to know how much litres of water does it hold??

i am a first-timer and i have a 28L (around 6-7 gallon) tank. I dont understand all the amonia and nitrite stuff i find on the internet... i only know how to test the PH. my local aquarium guy has taught me so much but never told me anything about the sciency stuff. he just told me to turn on the filter and air pump for at least 4 days (its a pretty smalll tank). but now the water is all cloudy and murky(excuse spelling!!) and the PH shot right up to alkaline is there something i am doing wrong? how can i make it better? It also smells a bit strange...
Why might it stink? could it be that i left the lid of the tank shut? should i disconnect the lid?

How long do you normally keep the rabbit?

my RES turtle has white patches on its shell...so i visited the site
http://www.austinsturtlepage.com and in the medical section the treatment for white patches was given,the treatment was:
Clean infected areas thoroughly with a strong, undiluted betadine, iodine or Nolvasan solution. Let the turtle air dry in a warm setting for about 45 minutes.
Apply a generous coating of Silvadene cream. Work into problem areas. Neosporin is also an acceptable alternative Leave the turtle dry and warm, ensuring that you do not over-heat, for 18-21 hours each day.
The next day, gently clean the affected area with a one of the previously mentioned solutions.Place them into fresh, clean water. Let them swim, drink and eat for
approximately 1 - 1 ½ hours.Repeat procedure from Step 1.This treatment performed daily or twice daily, should show you improvements within a week to 10 days. So i wanna ask that if the turtles are kept out of water for 18 hrs wont they die?and do i have to apply ....

ok so my boyfriend wants a dog... a saint bernard to be exact. puppies are cute but idk how much they cost pure and non pure bred. he just likes the look and personality of a saint bernard. how much do puppies or older dogs cost both pure bred and non pure bred? and about how much do they cost a month? what else should i get to get him started and about how much would that cost? like a collar, a leash, ... what else?

I have a Top Fin Aquascene 5 Aquarium Kit from Petsmart. The filter that came with it is called Whisper micro filter. The directions are so confusing to me... basically, the way the filter is set up, it makes it so the cord is actually in the water. Is this normal? the cord says "fully sumbmergible" on it... please help!

I have a German shepard/golden retreiver/greyhoud mix that chases anything that runs. It has killed the neighbors duck and a stray cat. He seems to think that anything that runs wants to play. Unfortunatley he is bigger than most things and ends up killing them. Help please.

I have read on here that the "Hertz" brand of flea control causes medical problems, what about the Shampoo?
I use the "Hertz" flea and tick shampoo with oatmeal on my pooches is that also bad?

Any suggestions on a safe and effective shampoo for my doggies (one of them has sensitive skin)

Some woman posted a traumatic story of having to give up 2 dogs as they owned 6 and she stated state law only allowed a family to own 4. I don't know of any place where this is STATE law as she said, but I did find there is such a law in Haverstraw, NY. Are there other places with such a law?

I work for a pet store and I'm often needled with comments and complaints about our high prices on aquarium fish. I've asked my manager(s) about this, and they could only respond that "the price of the supplier increased, so we increased our price to make a profit". I've researched prices for the most commonly asked about species, and I've found that our prices are very close to competitors prices- some higher and some lower. My father and I discussed this, and he does admit that, while our prices aren't drastically different than what he "can get elsewhere", the price of aquarium fish, both freshwater and marine, has increased recently in the past year or two. I know that the price of market fish- cod, haddock, sole, etc- increased due to tariffs and trade restrictions in the UK and such, but what is the reason behind the spike in aquarium fish prices? Is it for the same reason? Or is there another reason I haven't come across in my research on the subject?

My family has gotten a new 5-week-old puppy. He is part feist and (we think) blue heeler. He looks mostly feist and is very tiny. He is going to live inside. Our problem is that he is always barking when we put him in his cage. We only put him in there when we eat and when we sleep. He is very tiny but unbelievably loud. For the first few days he was in a blue box that was sort of tall and wide, and very good considering his size, but we got him a new wire one were he could see us. He still barks all night! Please don't suggest the clock method because we have already tried that. I know he is only 5-weeks-old but we aren't getting any sleep, PLEASE HELP!!! Please answer quickly and please don't be harsh!

Our baby is 41/2mths old now. We've had him for a month now. For so long I've been debating wether or not I can handle having a cat with 3 very lazy teenage children and an even lazier husband. But I don't know if I'm lucky or what the kitten has brought so much joy to our life. He's for sure the nicest, cutest most lovable kitty in the whole world. He lets us do what ever we want with him, hold him, kiss him,hug him, bush him etc.. and dosen't say a thing and just waits patiently till we're done as not to offend us. He'll sleep in my lap or lets me rock him to sleep.All of us are so crazy about him, we even cancelled our small family vacation(too cold anyway) so we don't leave him alone.
On to my question: We've been trying to train him to do a few tricks like to bring the ball back to our hand or come when he is called. We're even trying to give him treats but he doesn't seem to be able to connect the two together. Any advice on how we should accomplish this

he's never "gone" outside of the litter box but today he's had diarrhea whenever he gets excited (while I was giving his sister a bath, before he got one. and when i got home this evening) and just lets it go wherever he is at the time. I've also noticed his third eyelid is not "opening" all the way when his eyes are open. He is an indoor cat and the only new thing he's been exposed to is a new brand of cat litter. His mood is normal, he has high energy and seems fine otherwise. Also, he has a history of hacking, but dry hacks (no hairballs). His sister also is an indoor cat in my house and she is fine.

I AM NOT a breeder nor do I plan to breed.

They say that a good reason to breed is to better the breed.

How does breeding and getting more puppies be bettering the breed?

Is that the only GOOD reason to breed?

Again, I'm not interested in breeding. Just confused about how breeding betters the breed.
