he's never "gone" outside of the litter box but today he's had diarrhea whenever he gets excited (while I was giving his sister a bath, before he got one. and when i got home this evening) and just lets it go wherever he is at the time. I've also noticed his third eyelid is not "opening" all the way when his eyes are open. He is an indoor cat and the only new thing he's been exposed to is a new brand of cat litter. His mood is normal, he has high energy and seems fine otherwise. Also, he has a history of hacking, but dry hacks (no hairballs). His sister also is an indoor cat in my house and she is fine.

edit: i give them a bath because I have allergies... it keeps my allergies down to a minimum if they get a bath every now and again. Don't hate

The part with the diarrhea made me laugh so hard... He might have a stomach flu. My dog gets them sometimes. It'll be fine. If it continues for over a week, get a vet.

Honestly, you should just take him to a vet. I know how much it sucks to hear that answer on here. Like people don't know what vets are for...duh! But he very well could be allergic to the litter. Animals can have strange allergies just like humans. Or there could be something worse wrong. If he hacks a lot, he probably has allergies, so I would think that is the problem, but you can never be sure unless you get an expert to check it out. Hope I helped.

Switch back to the other litter and take your cat to the vet.
Also, stop giving them baths. There is absolutely no reason an indoor cat needs a bath. They bathe themselves and keep perfectly clean. I grew up with indoor cats and have 2 of my own now and have never given them a bath. they are totally clean.

I'm sorry, but did you just say THIRD eyelid? Are you implying your cat has three eyes? I recommend you switch back the litter, as a sudden change could be causing your cat's litter box problems.

The diarrhea could just be a one-day type of thing. Animals get sick occasionally, just like humans. But if it continues for several days, you should talk to your vet. The third eyelid should fix itself, but if i doesn't, the vet can give you cream to put in his eye that'll help.
