My puppy is only 19 weeks old. It is my first dog and I'm really crazy over him...I have seen a few fleas on him and he is scratching more then normal.. I have given him his advantex every month. Are these fleas going to be a huge problem? What should I do...he isn't supposed to get the next advantex for another week and a half? Should I be as scared about this as I am? I am so worried about him and my house. Please help!

1) i was looking at fish and the lady said that the "tropical" freshwater fish at the store had to have a heater on the tank for them. and she said all the fish there are pretty much tropical... is this true? i need to buy a heater for them?

2) i was also looking at the fish, and most all of them said they required salt water... so how would i make it so they could live in my tank? just put like salt in there? lol

3) im going to set up my tank tomorrow, and the lady said i should wait a week or two until i put any fish in there, and pretty much if i puit any in there soon theyd prretty muich die. i thought i could wait a couple of days?

I have a 29 gal tank that has been a community freshwater tank forever, we have debated about switching it over to cichlids numerous time, but I always had great fish that I just couldn't get rid of...well, the time has come to finally dive in and switch over to the cichlids. I only have one pleco and one upside down cat in my tank right now, both approx 5 in. and I have been told they would be fine with cichlids. Any advice on fish to get, those to stay away from, and how many to get? We have read and heard about people overstuffing the tank to prevent the fish from staking out territory, but I would rather have comfortable fish than those constantly fussing with each other trying to find a space for themselves. I saw a post that said that "kribs" would be a nice sized fish for that size tank, any opinions? Should I stick with 1 species or can I get 1 fish from several species? Thanks so much for any assistance you can provide!
Looking forward to taking the plunge!

I just got a 55 gallon tank, and it came with a whisper 60 filter and a whisper heater. Now, I've had bad luck with whisper stuff before, so I was thinking of replacing both filter and heater with other brands. Any suggestions?

I'm going to have a sponge filter as well, which is currently running in a big plastic tub full of water in my basement that I'm doing a fishless cycle in, lol.

For example, I tell my dog no and gently remove him from the situation and distract him.

What do you do when your dog does something you don't want him to do?

My mom gave my dog some boneless turkey pieces and now he has major gas and keeps farting those silent but smelly farts. Could turkey have given him gas?

Hi,

Just have taken in a new stray cat from a friend (she already has quite a few cats) and it's my first pet :) outside for 4+ mos.Love her to death. We've already been to the vet (shots) and the MSPCA (spay) so we're all happy now. I just wanted to know how you know what the best food is for the world's most absolutely beautiful cat ?! I leave out dry all day (likes it, but resorts to it only when the wet food is gone - over the night, etc.). But she loves of course the "expensive" stuff - so I've tried mixing the reg stuff and the expensive stuff and she picks through for the good stuff. My husband says I'm getting her too used to the good stuff - but if that's what she likes.... I guess I'm wondering if I spoiled her by giving her the higher end stuff from the beginning?

As I said, she was a stray, but came from somewhere because she is the nicest, gentlelest cat alive (she's about 3 yrs the vet said). Thanks for any food advice :)

I have two female cats. One, the older cat(8years old) doesnt like the newer cat, who is two. Lately, the older cat has been wetting our rugs. She has wet the bathroom rug over 5 times! And she has wet the master bedroom's carpet at least four times! I do not know what to do. My family is very distressed over the issue. She isn't the smartest cat in the world,(she was imbred and rescued by me from death), so she would not understand at all if we had to give her away. She considers me her mother. It breaks my heart to think of having to give her away! Why is she wetting carpets and rugs? Is she just being territorial because of the newer, younger cat? We have had the young cat for over a year. Why is the older one just now beginning to mark carpets and rugs? Could she have a urinary problem? Her litterbox is always clean and she appears to be in no pain during urination. Please help me!What could be wrong?

I have two dogs, they've eaten out of the same food bowl since they've been together, and I've tried to get them each their own dishes but they always ate out of each other's or just ate out of one. So is it ok to just feed them in the same dish and let them share? I feed them dry food-it is sitting in the bowl all day so they eat when they want to.

My cat is usually very sweet and lovable. She recently has been walking with her back arched and has been extremely lazy. She is also anti-social and won't let you hold her, somethings that she never cared about. What do you think may be wrong with her?

Hey guys,
I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinions on what can be done to educate buyers and new dog owners (probably some of those not-so-new dog owners as well). Also, what can one do to help people understand the plight of shelter dogs, and the issues about puppy mills?

Please, no excessive thumb use and attacking of other members! We're all adults here. For those of us that are not adults- you've got to start somewhere!

...a female Xiphophorus helleri is agressive?

The story goes like this:
My Xiphophorus helleri always defends her territory. She attacks my larger male Carassius auratus(maybe 2 inches?) and my male Brachydanio reiro(1.2 inches). Everytime the two come close to her territory, she chases them. This happens especially during feeding time. She's not the kind of fish that likes to get all the food. She still shares.

She is a FEMALE XIPHOPHORUS HELLERI.
She is about 1 inch. Her territory is my mini-jungle. A lot of plants indeed in that area.

So, do these cases happen? I read the they should be less agressive. Please explain thoroughly why they do this attitude.

PLEASE NO STUPID ANSWERS.

My dog has been having trouble with her ears, and has just been generally not feeling well, almost in misery. We've been doing what we can, and it's passing, but now she's acting CRAZY, she was ripping up packing paper and making it into a sort of nest, and doing the same thing in a flower pot, ie digging out the soil and laying in it, etc. I am NOT joking, she's spayed, and I need help please!!

Ok so heres what i've limited my choices too. Two bearded dragons that are both a year old one is 11 inches the other is 8 inches for $50 which includes everything no cage but comes with a traveling cage. Or a blue tongue skink for $100+ shipping comes with nothing but the animal. But skink lives longer, i dont know which one to pick, which one would you pick? Also which one is friendlier, doesn't mind being held, etc. I would be getting the beardies tomorow, so i need to know now!
