it was a sandwich size ziplock baggie. not sure if she chewed it or not. she's 3 so hopefully her size will help. called her breeder too-she said to give her a piece of bread and let her eat to help move it thru. she ate the bread and is eating her supper as we speak. she's big enough so i'm hoping it passes. i'll watch her stool but man this is scary. she's acting fine now but i'll be sleeping on the floor with her tonight. i'll update tomorrow. thanks for all the responses!!!!!!!! she's mama's only baby.

Well, you did the right thing by calling YOUR VET!!!!

Things to "watch for" are going to be vomiting especially water. If your dog hasn't pooped in a day and is vomiting food and water, that means the bag has obstructed the intestines and will have to be surgically removed (at the cost of about $1200-$2000). The bag may also simply pass through without a problem meaning you should watch the poop for signs of plastic.

If your dog vomits, you should get it to the vet immediately and tell them he ate a ziploc baggie.

It all depends on whether she swallowed it whole or chewed it into pieces. Was it a small baggie? If she's a big dog, she might be able to pass it without any problem. ANY foreign object has the potential to cause a blockage. Signs of blockage include vomiting, diarrhea, appetite comes and goes, dog feels well sometimes but is sick at times, and just doesn't seem to do well. If she doesn't pass it in a couple of days (you'll have to check her stool carefully) then she should be examined. Eating something like that could also cause an upset gastrointestinal tract, so make sure she eats and drinks normally.

I'm not a vet, but my dog once ate a cup of cat litter as a result of an anxiety attack. I had been dog sitting another dog the night before and it freaked her out. It set up like concrete inside her intestines and she almost needed surgery to get it out! Dogs are fun!

A ziplock baggie shouldn't be dangerous and should pass through just fine. As long as she is eating, drinking, and pooping, she'll be fine.

My neighbor's black lab ate a plastic baggie and we didn't even notice until it pooped it out. So I bet your dog will be fine.
