No you don't need to be scared, you just need to get a spray for your house too, from a vets not a petstore. And make sure you're getting that Advantix on doggy's skin, not his fur.

Did you give the puppy a bath shortly before or after you put the advantex on him? You should wait at least one week before or after you put the flea medication on him because it washes off. That might be the problem, or maybe he just has very sensitive skin too. Dogs and cats can have sensitive skin just like people. My Lhasa Apso does, I have to give him a bath with a medicated shampoo every week. The best thing you can do,is to take your puppy to the vet, he will know what is wrong with your puppy and give him the proper medicines.

First you will want to take him to a groomer and have them give him a flea bath!!! Second, DO NOT bring him back to your home, bring him to a relatives or friends!!! You will need to flea bomb your whole house before you bring him back home!!!
If you don't act quickly your whole house could become a new flea Hotel, they breed like crazy and there eggs can lay dormant for months!!! You must flea bomb your house, and every living thing has to be removed from the home during the flea bombing!!!
Take out all open food containers, Including all animal foods before flea bombing!! You will not be able to re-enter your home for about 6 to 8 hours once you set off the flea bombs!!! No ONE IS to enter the home for that period of time!!!
If the puppy is scratching really bad, the fleas are bad and probably all over your home already!!! and they will keep breeding until the whole house has hundreds of thousands!!! They need blood to lay eggs, animal or human!!! So I'm sure you can't leave your home for months until they all die!!! So you will have to flea bomb your whole house! You can purchase the flea bombs from petshops and dog grooming places!!!
Read the directions carefully!!!

You have to treat the environment that your puppy lives in. Vacuum all the areas where your dog lives and throw the vac *** bag away when your done. Wash all bedding in a 10% bleach solution and continue to treat your pet with Front line or advantage monthly to prevent re-infestation. either way fleas are a very difficult parasite to control and you must be very vigilant in their eradication. Good Luck!

Besides the monthly flea treatment there is a product called program which is a small tablet you feed the dog once monthly that interrupts the flea cycle (you can get it at drfostersandsmith.com . I used it for my pup and it really helped.

Frontline plus worked the best for my puppy.
you also should get a flea spray in case you have any carpets or rugs!
Fleas are everywhere! trying to kill them as soon as possible is the best answer cuz they multiply like crazy! ... also try to get a flea shampoo they have some for puppies at wal-mart i think!
