My dog has been having trouble with her ears, and has just been generally not feeling well, almost in misery. We've been doing what we can, and it's passing, but now she's acting CRAZY, she was ripping up packing paper and making it into a sort of nest, and doing the same thing in a flower pot, ie digging out the soil and laying in it, etc. I am NOT joking, she's spayed, and I need help please!!

I *know* she's not pregnant, and she was spayed over two years ago. It might be ear mites, but she's been showing other signs of sickness we usually see in humans, like swollen glands. She hasn't been even around a male dog, so she CAN'T be pregnant. She's a black lab/blue heeler mix, and I have a golden retriever, and they play together, so it shouldn't be the energy. Thanks, everyone, for your help so far!

Also, her ears are the main problem; she's been scratching at them like crazy recently, and we cleaned them out. She's not scratching so badly anymore, but she has large scabs and sores in her ears now, so we clean them daily as well.

She can't be pregnant if she is spayed. They take out the ovaries, the uterus and everything, there is no possible way that she can be pregnant if spayed. (unless your vet messed up terribly). She can however have what is called a false pregnancy. It's caused from a fluctuation of hormones. (Progesterone I think can't remember off the top of my head) She will go through similar symptoms as a pregnancy. I would take her to a vet and they can fix her right up. Good luck Hope this helps.

Id take her to the vet, if only because she was having trouble with her ears. She could be just ripping things up because shes feeling better or she could have eaten something bad or it could be due to the ear infection...get her checked out.

Very strange! Call the vet tomorrow and get professional advice. Her ear problem could be an ear infection and that could be causing her strange behavior. She may need antibiotic. She probably is running a fever and that can cause strange behavior.

I would take her to the vet. Maybe she has ear mites? Or maybe she got some water in her ears? Whenever a pet is acting strange, the best thing to do is get him/her in to see a vet immediately.

When was the last time your dog was taken out for a walk, or a good bout of exercise? if you dog's been at home not feeling good, I bet she has some excess energy to burn that's translating into undesireable behaviour. take her for a walk, if she starts getting tired, take her back home. Though if she has been sitting around the house for a while, wether or not this solves y our problem (which I think it may) the exercise could do her some good.

Take her to the vet and get her ears checked. It's probably a horrible infection, or a yeast infection, or ear mites. She could go deaf if you don't get her treated.

If she just got spayed, she could be in pain. Take her back to the vet. Her behavior is similar to when women experience hot flashes during menopause and desperately try to cool off.

Maybe she's feeling better so feels like playing. Have you taken her to the vet? It sounds like she needs better medical care for her ears. Poor thing!

well seems to me she needs help and learning to stop. but you can take her to the vet first. she could have ear mites and that is first thing to find out and then worms. then if she is clean then you talke to them about the dog and actions sometimes they can really help. take care.

Has she had puppies before?

If not she might have a yeast infection if she has floppy ears,
but I'm not 100% sure soo I would get it checked by your local vet.
