It's the season for giving so can't we all try to take a minute to run past the dog and cat toys while we're out shopping and pick up one toy or bag of treats to drop off at the nearest shelter? It does'nt have to be expensive. Anything would probably be truly appreciated by both the animals who are stressed from sheer boredom and the staff who care for these animals as best they can.
Alot of these shelters don't have the funds to provide the animals with any more than the basics and feel lucky they can do that. One toy or bag of treats won't help one bit.But if 30 or 40 people dropped off just one thing imagine how much happier these animals would be having something to interact or cuddle with while they're sitting in a cage waiting for a forever home and someone to love them.
Alot of people say they want to help these animals but don't know how. Here's your chance.

We have had one of our dogs for a couple of years and his partner died he looked and acted lonely so we saved a dog (from dying) and now they hate each other. One is inside and the other outside (and happy that way). Both are males and not desexed, the new one is getting de-sexed next week. Our older dog is 2 and this dog 1. One is a husky x and this one is a Lhasa Apso. I just wanted them to be friends. What I am wanting to know is if they will ever be friends?. It is hard to train a dog to be an inside (toilet) trained dog. Pls dont knock me Im just trying to do the right thing.

My kitten is named Noah. (No-uh) All he loves to play with is a piece of thick string that i throw around so he can play. Are there any other ideas instead of buying some at petco or petsmart? Like creative ones?

We recently got a 4 1/2 month old lab from a co-worker of mine who had her and couldn't look after her anymore. She spent all her time in her kennel and was never really paid any attention too. I told him if he coudlnt' find a home for her in a week that my boyfriend and I would buy her from him and try to find her a good home. Meanwhile getting more attention (we have to young labs as well). A week and a half after getting her she passed away. I fed her in her kennel one morning. A few minutes later I hurt whining noises from her kennel, so I looked in and she looks asleep, but twitching. My boyfriend pulled her out, she wouldn't wake her. He started doing mouth to mouth on her. We got her to emergency within 15 mins of it happening, but she died on the way there. The vet said she most likely choked on a peice of her kibble. I haven't told my co-worker. I feel horrible and Im devastated..i don't know what to do. I am not a bad person, but I feel like the biggest peice of crap!!!

Hi, our small dog has been deemed an anestesia risk, so no spaying is possible.

I've had every dog I ever owned fixed, so this is a first for me!

How often do toy breeds normally come into heat? Do the doggie britches work, is one brand better than the other? Any other suggestions to cope with a heat cycle and keep the housekeeping down to a dull roar I'd appreciate hearing them, thanks to all in advance!

I have a one year old poodle. we gave him one animal cracker every time he urinates or poops which is about three a day. He is used to it now and because of giving him animal cracker, he is trained to poop or urinanate outside. However is it okay for the puppy's health? eating like a animal cracker like everyday? most of my family member thinks it is okay but in a long term health, I am afraid that eating sweet things is not good.. If you have a puppy what do you do? what do you think?

The vet said that my puppy is cow-hocked. I know what the means as far his legs being kinda turned out and he walks at an angle to the direction that he's going and that it can make him a little slower and tire him quicker. But what does it mean in turns of his health? Am I correct in assume that he is more likely to have hip problems (he's a saint/newf mix so hips are already something to watch)? Does this cause him and pain, other than getting tired more quickly? Could this be why he doesn't want to get up on things himself (like the couch, he's 11 weeks and physically big enough)?

Oh my gosh, my cat is going insane. Lately she has been extremely desperate to get in the house. When we don't let her in she meows so loud I can hear her upstairs. When I do let her in she follows me around constantly and thinks everything is food. When I am in the kitchen she will do everything in her power to get food. She is acting possessed and it is creeping me out. I know some cats are just hungry and this would not bother me if she had been like this her whole life. But, she is five i think and for like two weeks she has been nuts. She isn't overweight, though she used to be. Everything else seems normal, so what is wrong?? I am sure alot of people will say " take her to the vet", but my dad will not take a cat to the vet just because it is hungry. Please help me figure out what is wrong! thank you

He has not had a dog since my parents' divorce 17 years ago. He has since had only cats. He is a bit OCD so something small and easily housebroken would be great, preferably with little shedding. He is looking for something that he could sleep with, so a lab might be a tad too big. My Mom has shih-tzus that he has fallen in love with, but something different would be nice!

I have two kittens, they are about 8 or 9 weeks old. I just saw some fleas on them, yuck. I went out and bought some Frontline. So they each have some now, but my question is...how long does it take effect? And will one dose work for a while if they are inside? I know it's once a month, but what do you think, for a kitten? Thank you!

I took in a stray cat just before a snow storm hit. She is really skinny, you can see her bones, and her paw looks to be broken. She is so sweet an mellow which leads me to believe she has lived in a house before. I think someone dumped her when they moved out. Anyway I really want to keep her, but I don't have the money to take her to the vet. And I know if I call animal control they would just put her to sleep. I love cats so much and I just want to help her. I feel so bad. All the places I called want money up front. Is there any groups that help with vet bills in the Kansas City area? I'm at a loss here. I'm crying and it's not even my cat.
