Even if it's designed for dogs, it probably isn't very well insulated. Putting a dogloo or ruffhaus style doghouse inside with some good bedding will help. Keep a thermometer inside the shed and make sure the temp. doesn't get below freezing. If your area is real cold you might want to consider buying some styrofoam panels (Home depot or Lowe's) that you can line the walls with for insulation.....if possible put them underneath the shed floor also....or at least under the doghouse.
You still may need a heat source. If so, choose very carefully. You can find electric heating matts for dog houses...safer than space heaters or regular heating pads. I used one for a dog that had bowel control problems and couldn't stay in the house. We put it in a customized dog house on our covered patio. It kept her nice and warm even when the outside temps dropped below freezing.

You can actually pile bales of straw outside around the shed about two rows high. It acts as extra insulation. If it doesn't have a floor, then you need straw on the floor inside too.

Yes, you can add some warm blankets. And add a few toys in it when your dog is inside. Also if your dog spends most of his time in the shed you could put his food and water inside it too. If the shed is THAT big you can glue some big treats to the wall and your dog tries to get it, so it is like a souvenir and at the same time a challenge to get the treat.

not sure what you would want to do. first of all get it up off the ground. then put a good bottom layer of straw on it and then try and make a good wind breaker type for it have it set up on southside of the house. you can putsomething over the door to help keep the heat in.

You can bring your dog in the house, and solve the problem permanently. Dogs are companion animals, part of the family, they aren't your car, or your snowblower. Would you put your kids in the shed?

How about you sleep in the shed and leave the dog in the house where he belongs, with the rest of his pack.... the humans in the home!
